Earth's Woe
Earth's Woe
She lives in a Nightmare,
The sort she can’t wake from.
She cries in silence,
Not a sob escapes.
She breaks a bit more,
Each day every day.
A step closer, she takes
Towards the welcoming arms of death.
Her survival, a bet, a question, a game.
She is trampled on by the very people, she loves.
She is starved by them, those she feeds.
She, a bargain, a tool to fulfill their whims.
A plaything to use as they please.
No remorse or shame they show
For killing
the one who gave them her all.
Everyday reigned by uncertainty and fear.
The harmonious days of the past,
Seem now to be glimpses of a dream.
Helplessness and despair,
Her constant companions.
Albeit all the dark,
She holds on with what remains of her,
Hope, false or true,
Lies in the hands of time.
Yet if she were to make a choice
From a chapter of yore,
She would choose all over again,
To let them exploit her
For it is all a Mother’s love.
