Choked On My Own Words

Choked On My Own Words

For the first time,

I felt what it felt like to be choked by my own words.

I had so much to say to you,

But my words,

They stop at my throat.

Holding on so tight,

That they cut the air off.

My tears said what I felt,

But it still couldn't illustrate,

What my words would've said.

I looked you in the eye,

Hoping you would understand,

The pain I felt.

Looking someone I love in the eye,

After seeing them in someone else's bed.

For the first time,

My words hang on to my throat.

Only letting go so I could scream out in agony.

When I couldn't take it anymore,

I restored to my hands.

I felt powerless.

Under your watchful eyes.

For the first time,

I felt what it felt like to be choked by my own words.

When I need them the most.
