Burn Me Tonight

I remember seeing her by the sea,

With her heart full of sin;

Watching the darkness of the trees,

So much sadness kept within.

Like a fairy tale, I used to think,

Better days and sweet dreams -

In a moment, I couldn’t blink;

Saw her carry it to extremes.

I remember lying on the shore;

Listening to her eternal cries.

My empty soul had died before,

But her sorrow filled my eyes.

I wonder if death is cruel or life,

The river flows but the hollows thrive.

If the black of darkness kills the light,

Burn me up, let my flames to be bright.

Don’t hurt yourself grieving late night,

Leave me alone under the starlight.

I don’t really mind and it’s all right,

You may escape burning me tonight.
