Bitter To Treat

Love fruit juices from melons one and all

Sweet and smooth or pulpy love them all

But one melon not sweet at all- Oh no, not at all

Tastes too bitter, but healthy for one and all

"Bitter melon" it is called in countries few

In my native it is called "Karela" but enjoy it only few

Some like it with jaggery when cooked

Some like it when stuffed but not when half-cooked

Some enjoy when sauté with sugar and onions fried

Some just like when in from of wafers fried

But if you ask me, how I prefer to have it?

Well, any form is fine, when dearest mother makes it

For she adds her motherly love, making bitter melon too into a tasty treat.
