Antithetical
Antithetical
As it rained cats and dogs on my rooftop
Dreamt a dream, as soon as I dozed off
Stepped into a world of whimsical magical
Surprisingly antithetical
Here everything other than human beings
Had five senses and a mind as if they were human beings
But here the humans no more were owners
Of any of the five senses or had intellectual powers.
Here birds spoke different languages many
Here animals played instruments uncanny
Here flowers laughed and cried too
Here trees walked and performed step-dance too
Here rain poured measured as per necessity
Here snowfall ensured no occurrence of tragedy
Here rivers flowed and diverged intelligently
Here waves gulped down Tsunamis as if something tasty
Here mountains acted like protective strong fathers
Here valleys acted like home-makers and caring mothers
Here flora helped to cooked dishes fancy
Here fauna were earners for every and any
Here festivals and seasons as one all celebrated
While humans stood sad, stand-still dumbfounded
Wishing they too had power to see, speak and think
Wishing they too could move, feel, eat and drink
Boom! a loud crackle in the sky must have woke me up
From this out of the blue dream and I was quite shaken-up
Found rain water all around me as I stood up
Life once again with water logging, I knew will disrupt
My dream may have been, just an abnormal dream
What if this was a reality and not just one-off dream
Imagine if we turned into hills or valleys forever
Visualize if we became soil or rocks forever
We are blessed and bestowed with abilities priceless
Almighty blessed us with capabilities precious
But many of our acts we do, are just not right
Then, later it becomes too late to put things right
Our habits to throw thrash any and every where
Block drainages, dirty roads then act unaware
We may not hold remote-control to control rainfall
But some good habits can avoid water-logging after all
Do nothing to harvest as and when we get scant rain
When rainfall is late or too heavy, we do nothing but complain
Wish, others too could dream my unusual dream
Others too appreciate what we have is nothing short of a dream
Lots of efforts and planning is required to make up
To reduce the damage that we have managed to cook up
For our mankind and our nature, this prayer I do pray
Wake up and shake up to shape up our environment back to its glory days
When kids without worry could freely splash in puddles of rain
When at home we enjoyed fritters and ginger tea with first rain
When forgetting the raincoat to school was a happy occasion
For we as children got a chance to get wet while returning home
When a chance to dance in the rain with beloved was much awaited
When after scorching summer rainy season rarely got delayed.
