Begin Again
Begin Again
I dreamt about you last night.
The tiny freckles on your face
Much more larger than usual:
And the scars of stitches from your previous fight
Illuminated in the moonlight
I could see your face twitching,
The lips curling,
The hands flailing,
The hair tousled like always.
Rummaging into the room,
You could barely contain your excitement,
You were laughing,
Your eyes twinkling,
Suddenly you snapped your fingers
Eyes struck out of horror and disdain.
I could see you moving far,
Very far away from me.
I sat there,
Looking at your shadow disappearing
In the meadow
Rocking on my chair, counting down the minutes until dawn.
I peered through the window,
And drifted off waiting for you.
I woke up.
I began writing poems
To fill the voids you'd created,
But what to do to fill in the voids
Created by these little verses?
I don't know if you were the conundrum
I couldn't solve,
Or you just pretended to remain
The unsolved mystery.
