Another Man's Story

Another Man's Story

After all this trying, it hits me.

I can try but the world through your eyes, I can never see.

I'm better at writing my own story than I'm at depicting others'.

I've felt my own soul leave my body, I've never felt the pain of another's.

Even if both of our dreams shattered, I don't reckon any piece was the same.

We don't tell the same story just because we're both in pain.

It's not about the things that happen, it never is.

Even if we were part of the same life, nothing common would we both miss.

You might regret what happened. I might regret why it did.

You might regret what was disclosed, I might regret what was hid.

As long as I feel my pain, I possess no room for yours.

Sometimes not even the same afflictions require the same cures.
