AN UNFULFILLED WISH

Ah! I remember the day we met,

a rainy day, a gush of wind blowing, 

and I saw you passing by across the storm.

I was hypnotized by your sight,

my heart skipped a beat, 

my intuition told me that 

you would be the special person in my life.

How I wished you spoke with me, 

and it did happen one day,

when you became my neighbour.

We shared the same interests, 

yet you had a knack of being unique.

We exchanged our phone numbers,

drowned in your thoughts day and night,

how I cherish the chats that we've had,

the laughs and cries that we've shared,

the silly fights that we've had,

and how we've patched up again and again. 

I have had butterflies in my stomach

while you cast a spell upon me,

I know that life is short,

and everyone in my life is temporary,

yet I cherish every moment spent with you.

How I wish you gave me a warm hug,

my life would complete its arc,

with my loneliness being destroyed,

you take me from a depressed state 

into a blissful world, I hallucinate so.

Oh, how I blush on thinking about you,

you have held my hands in hard times,

gave me a shoulder to rest and cry on,

we shared small moments of pleasure.

Ah ! I am so mesmerized by you,

you are the purest soul I've ever met,

my love for you is deep and unexplainable.

I wish I could share my life with you, 

I realise that our love blossomed,

it's a different feeling,

age, caste, creed, identity none matters,

I can't stop thinking about you,

I get nostalgic and tears of joy

starts ebbing from our eyes

whilst we meet after a long time.

You wiped my tears and soaked my sadness,

our love stretched across boundaries,

I can process all that love and affection,

I wish it lasts forever, my dear !

You are deeply embedded in my heart,

yet I am scared to open up my heart, 

a fear grips my heart about our breakup,

my shyness acts as a mountain between us,

we are so close yet so far,

I can never admit my feelings for you,

yet admire you and your glory my love,

as the times moves on and on, 

we never parted our ways,

we get a new lease of life, 

you are that special person in my life,

I have reformed into a better person 

as I dwell into the memories of the past.

Our love has been an unfulfilled wish,

yet the purest of any love to exist,

it never ceases, it doesn't progress too 

as we move on and on.
