Your mortal remains come wrapped

In Tri-colour

Dismembered, in terror attack

Your blown apart body parts

Placed venerably in a coffin

Wreathed atop

Your only identification

A watch on your severed arm

The bugles blow

Last respects paid

The world salutes your supreme sacrifice

Unmindful, that my world had been torn apart

As if severed family ties were not enough

Intercaste marriage had made life tough

Fate struck another terrible blow

Just ten months into wedlock

How could I limp and languish

With one limb crushed

In the sea of humanity?

My mind made up

I'll keep the vows

Till death doth us apart

The pyre was lit

Inconsolable, I stared at the leaping flames

'My love you cannot leave me alone'

I shrieked and rushed to be swallowed in

Two tiny legs kicked in my belly

I stopped short

I could hear feeble voices from within
