A Tiny Part Of My Life

A Tiny Part Of My Life

Sometimes I think
Sometimes I even regret
I used to have a life
And it was very different

Now you have occupied
So much of it in you
That it seems impossible
To survive without you

I was carefree
I looked younger
I was a daughter
Not a mother

Now I have you
To love and to care
But when I get all stressed out
Your smile makes it fair

I was not an example
Whom you could copy
I could do stupid stuff
And no one would stop me

Yet when you try mimicking me
I see so much of myself
You are my magical mirror
Straight from the heavenly shelf

I used to sleep soundly
No silly motherly concerns
I lived my life fully
On my own terms

Now I often wake up
At 2 am or 3
To check on you while you sleep
May be dreaming about me

And then I see your face
So calm and peaceful
Oh god! I have never seen
Anything as beautiful
