A Silent Fight

Away from the city of consciousness,

amidst the unwanted attention,

endless murmurings and whispers,

far from feelings and apprehension,

the mind and the soul

were fighting a battle

to choose between life and death.

There was no excitement,

the nerves were silent,

the frame needed a rest,

the soul wanted a new nest.

And after all assessment

it was the heart

who opted for death.

The mind got no other option

for it reached the destination.

The whispers became screams,

tears shed in streams,

but the senses were quite

as there was no more fight

and the journey was over.
