A Mortal's Secret

A Mortal's Secret

Death, that's what I thought,

Makes me a mortal Lord,

But one could be as wrong as the bloody red,

For I found that it is not the feared death.

I'd be stupid to buy the words of a magic Being,

But alas! I was As Stupid As a mortal can be,

He asked of me the five precious years of my life,

As the price for the secret, a word to be precise.

And so I gave the five precious years of my life,

As Quick As I'd give away a blunt knife,

For I'd say my life is one big blunt knife,

Without holding the secret of a mortal's life.

Only to hear him utter, 'light'

'Not death' he sang but 'light'

For, an immortal could die by a stake through his heart,

But never steal the light from a mortal's heart.

'Never burn out that light' he said,

For, without it, you're nothing but a lifeless lad,

'Easy it is to kill that light' he said,

For, it shows itself in that black eyes of yours,

And lives right deep inside your heart,

'Hold on to it you foolish lad

For, without it, you are one bad lad'
