A Martyred Soul
A Martyred Soul
I swore with will and power
To protect my nation every hour
To give my brothers n sisters peace
To ensure them a life of ease
This had always been my true want
But to my mother, this thought was a haunt
She cried bitterly while seeing me go
''May God protect you from every foe''
These were her last words I could hear
Telling her that the way was all clear
My father said to keep giving a daily call
I said yes and that I won't ever fall
My son said you are my hero dad
It was the last time I saw him cheerfully clad
My daughter wanted me to return soon
For the last time, I said she was to me, a boon
There came the convoy bus and I stepped in
Inside were all my forever mates and kin
I turned back seeing my family fade away
Thought there would be no harm on the way
But suddenly.............!!! Booom !!!
A vicious burst shattered everything
We had got a cowardly malicious sting
In a few moments, my body was torn
Still, I had my soldier uniform worn
Not even shrouded corpses you could say
Brutally separated organs were all that lay
Pulwama was the place where I had sensed
Who will give medicines to ma when tensed
Who will give my son a horse ride
In whom will my daughter now confide
Whom would Pa give his lessons of life to
As I was here among one of those forty-two
But in my heart, a mellifluous sound rang
To my last breath, it was that which I sang
Come what may I would never stop singing
This song in my heart will keep ringing
This song in my heart will keep ringing:
Main rahun ya na rahun bharat yeh rehna chahiye........
(Dedicated to all our bravehearts who lay down their lives for us)
