Lifelong Relationship
Lifelong Relationship
They were seen always together
'Three Musketeers' nicknamed forever
Friendship chemistry that grew stronger
As they stepped the rungs of the age ladder
At four they were the inseparable trio
Attended the same school, same classroom
At home played all day mostly outdoors
Climbing trees, plucking fruits, gorging
On mulberries till lips turned dark blue
Suffering loosies ran together to the loo
Back again in their frilly white chuddies
Racing each other on the green lawns
Yelled at for disobeying orders
Though in all seriousness t'was just a ruse
To get them back speedily indoors.
Attained puberty hormones on the rise
Shared secrets of first school crushes
confided when switched to wearing brassieres
Felt like grown ups, sticking out their boobs
What school girls all over the world do
Were no different graduating to ladyhood
School year ended the inevitable happened
They separated to pursue college education
To different cities, in different streams
Links in the chain of friendship did stretch.
One married early, her childhood beau
Her happiness infected the other two
Doubled a year later with the news
She had given birth to her first born girl
Carbon copy of her beautiful mother.
There were gaps of silences in between.
Busy raising kids, while on the move
But communication lines never did crink
'Three middle-aged Musketeers' would meet
Whenever fate stepped in to intervene
And now they have aged and over the hill
Boobs hanging up to their knees
One suddenly faced with losing hubby
Sinking to the lowest depths of tragedy
Then getting up and pulling through
Moving on with her life; giving back
To society with her learning tools
Empowering women to earn their food
Inspiring the other two how to stitch
Tt all back together when life seems ruined.
