Perching
Perching
Some said the world would end in fire,
Some said in ice,
But my world died of betrayal,
It died drowning in the lies.
I broke apart oceans to meet you,
Ripped off countless nights,
Through my naughts & through my pain,
I still saw the hope of the dimmed lights.
My intoxication drew me near to you,
Providing me a comfortable lair,
I kept trenchantly searching for you,
But found that you weren't there...
