Welcome Back

Dinesh works as a technical lead in a multinational company, lives a routine life in a double bedroom flat with his wife Keerthi and daughter Teju. Keerthi is a homemaker and her daughter Teju studies in 4th standard. Dinesh's mobile alarm starts beeping at 6 o'clock. Half asleep and with half closed eyes he asks his wife to wake up. Keerthi wakes up and starts to prepare food for breakfast and lunch for his husband and daughter. Dinesh wakes up at 7.00 am, takes bath and then breakfast. He leaves his house with Teju at 8.00 am, on the way drops her daughter in school and goes to office. He returns home at 7.00 pm and spends some time with his daughter Keerthi and finishes his dinner at 8.00 pm and goes to sleep at 9.00 pm.

This was his routine life.

Days and months have passed but the routine never changed.

 

Once again his mobile alarm start beeping at 6 o'clock. Half asleep with half closed eyes he asked his wife to wake up. Keerthi woke up and started to prepare food for breakfast and lunch for his husband and daughter Teju. Dinesh woke up at 7.00 am took bath and had breakfast. He left his house with Teju at 8.00 am, on the way he dropped her daughter in school. It was around 8.30 am. 

At the same time, in a government hospital, the doctor gave injection to a patient who was in bed. The doctor said to a lady, "This is our last hope." And mentioned 24 hours as a deadline.

After dropping Teju, Dinesh went to his office.

In office, security asked him to show company id card.

Dinesh searched his pocket and said, "Oh sorry! Left it in home and asked for a temporary id card."

He entered into his cubicle and found out that someone is sitting in his place!

Dinesh asked, "Why are you sitting in my place?"

The person who is sitting in his place replied, "I’m the technical lead for this project and who are you? I haven’t seen you before in this company."

Dinesh replied, "I'm the technical lead for this project."

The problem went to HR. HR found out  that Dinesh is not a company employee and asked him to get out of the office. Dinesh was in complete shock. He couldn't even understand what was happening around him. He was just sitting in the park and thinking over again and again. In the evening he thought of picking up his daughter from school. He waited outside the school for more than an hour, but Teju didn’t come so he enquired in school about his daughter. But school Principal said, "There's no one studying in the name of Teju in 4th standard."

He thought they are giving wrong information and tried to contact Keerthi but it was not reachable. Dinesh thought of returning home to check whether Teju was home.

On the way home he found Keerthi and Teju standing outside a restaurant and waiting for someone. He stopped his car near Keerthi and asked both of them to get in. But she stared at him. Dinesh compelled them to get inside the car. Keerthi started shouting and a crowd gathered. Crowd asked Keerthi if Dinesh was misbehaving with her. Dinesh told them that she was his wife. But Keerthi says, "I don’t know who he is?"

A man came out from the restaurant and by showing him Keerthi says, "He is my husband."

Crowd started chanting. Dinesh opened his purse to show the family photo in front of crowd but he finds out that there is some other lady and child in his family photo. Crowd asked Keerthi to handover him to police but she forgives him and leaves the place.

Dinesh returns home in a hurry and checks all the photos and marriage videos. In which there is some other lady and child in the place of Keerthi and Teju. He faints and his mobile alarm starts beeping at 6 o'clock.

Dinesh thought it was a bad dream. Half asleep with half closed eyes asked his wife Keerthi to wake up. Actually that was not Keerthi it was the lady who he saw in the family photo and when he came for breakfast to the hall and called Keerthi to bring breakfast. The lady came from kitchen and served breakfast to him. The child was playing with toys. Finally, he understands that the one who he saw next to him in his bed was the lady. Dinesh immediately gets inside the bedroom and locks the door. The lady asks him to open the door and child cries and says “daddy open the door”. Dinesh is unable to tolerate what's happening around him and thinks of hanging himself.

One end of the rope is tied to the fan and the other end is in his neck when he falls from the chair.

Suddenly there is no sound coming from outside the door. All the clock has been frozen at 8.30 am.

He slowly removed the rope from his neck and came down to open the door.

The door slowly opens and it is filled with light. Dinesh is unable to see. He slowly opens his eyes and the doctor standing near him says “Welcome back”. Keerthi was standing beside his husband. The lady and child, who he saw in the family photo were standing on the other side. Tears are rolling from his eyes and the flashback begins in his mind.

Dinesh met with a bike accident and was in coma for several months. Keerthi was his ex-girlfriend. She lived as his wife in his dreams and Teju was the imaginable character they created. When they were in love both wished to have a daughter named Teju after marriage. The company in which he worked in dream was his dream company to work in. He attended interview and failed several times. The lady and child were his wife Ramya and daughter Shravya in his real life.
