ValenTrees Day

Clouds dispersed to unveil the blue sky which supported the sun to focus its rays on earth. Two mango trees incubated with mangoes stood against each other with an air of silence prevailing around. They weren't equipped with talking skills unlike humans but their love story was too deep to neglect. They had been in love with each other since their childhood when they were plants and the pure love extended even when they metamorphosed into giant trees. These trees witnessed generations passing by. They silently sent a petition to God to put their names in the Guinness book of world record for the lengthiest love story ever. There were times when hurricanes and rain worked in cahoots to destroy them to put a full stop to their love story but failed owing to the relentless love which acted as a divine force to save the trees from catastrophic situations. Many love birds used to find their spots under the shade of these mango trees to confess their love. These mango trees seemed to have accumulated abundant experience in terms of helping the love birds to reconcile when the situations looked bleak. Many heated arguments found tranquillity under the shade of these trees. Many compared these trees to Adam and Eve as they seemed to possess divine energy which ran through their body when they stood under them.

It had been years since the love story between the two trees brewed. They gave company to each other in dire times and were confident that their love story would survive forever. One day, a sitting MLA in the area gazed at these trees while commuting in his expensive vehicle. He insisted his secretary cut down the trees in the area sprawling several yards to make way for the construction of Metro. Unfortunately, even the mango trees were planned to be fell. These trees never had a premonition that they would be wiped off from earth once and for all. The rasping sound winds induced an ominous sign. They vigorously blew through the trees felling many mangoes in the process. The two mangoes from either tree fell and touched together before a boy picked and slurped them.

The two beautiful lush green trees had a final night that lay ahead before they would get killed by people. The twinkling stars in the light made a futile attempt to mollify them but they had no license to change the reality. It was February 14th Valentine's day and many love birds had been blessed by these trees earlier in the day. Now, they had privacy to share their feelings. They cried their heart out reminiscing about their beautiful old memories that perhaps could have been curated into a big movie. The moon sneaked through the leaves to comfort the trees but to no avail. The chirping birds tried to tickle the trees but could not make them smile. They looked credulous in front of belligerent people who through their garrulous means hurt them with impunity. Valentines Day which should have allowed them to celebrate their love instead compelled them to mourn their love which would rest in peace tomorrow. 

The two trees proposed each other one last time emotionally amidst the silent objects around. 

A frightful day emerged to nip their life story in the bud. The sitting MLA came in person to witness the death of two old trees which had adorned the place for more than eight decades. The sharp axe laughed at the helplessness of the trees which dreaded the moment they came in contact with the sharp axe. They took some harsh blows which made them shed tears. Could anyone cease the impending doom of the trees? The divine energy surged through the trees rendering them a hint that they would survive amidst the chaos created by these men. Suddenly, a warrant emerged on the palm of the MLA to stop the felling of trees with immediate effect. The unwarranted instruction to fall the tree was now insignificant. Trees fell mangoes over the head of people being indignant at their cruel decision to kill them. Substantially, everyone left the spot allowing the trees to celebrate their love revival.
