It is a huge surprise that an athlete like me needed an year and a half to understand that it is as much about the food we eat as it is about exercise to keep fit and fine. Thinking about it now it is no more a surprise but a sad, worrying and detrimental reality: safely dismissing the truth of the matter!

My darling sister is an absolute inspiration to me in that she pursues her personal, professional and fitness goals with such patience, will power and strong focus. She explained to me about food, basics on the source and impact of various nutrients, our body types and the diverse exercise patterns to suit each of our choice, feasibility, limitations and strengths. Since she used creative examples and excellent, real scenarios the learning process became all the more insightful and enjoyable.

Today I have gracefully acknowledged the truth - that food and exercise - both play a key role in keeping us healthy and happy. There is definitely no food vs exercise concept.

From my school until my university, every time I went to represent at different levels of Athletic meets, my trainers focused as much on what I consumed as they did on rigorous practice.

How could I conveniently forget one half of coaching while I remembered the other half? Perhaps I just wished to get away with guilt that I was indulging in all my favourite foods little too often and did not want to accept that I needed more exercise to burn as much calories. So, I started to believe and spread that, no matter how much and what we ate, all that mattered is the exact same exercise schedule that we always followed!

Thank God my sister rescued me. Honestly, this habit of evading the truth simply because we do not know how to respond or just that we don't care is perilous ! We should stop it right away and chase the truth. Truth matters however harsh it may be. It shall prevail.
