The Unsolved Mystery

Back on 23rd December 2008, I was not in a position to celebrate Christmas peacefully and happily. Everything was alright, I was preparing for Christmas, decorating, buying presents for everyone. On that day I was at my house probably cooking dinner, when I heard something fall in my front garden. When I opened the front door, I saw a man digging in my front garden looking for something that he called jewels. He said that his name was Jonny Wedges. He was thin small and wore a cowboy hat. I was annoyed at him by looking at the state of my garden. But then he told me something that suddenly made me feel a lot better...

Jonny said that if I helped him I would get half of the share of jewels. He spoke through the story of his brother's death. He said that his brother name Dan. According to Jonny's story, Dan was very rich and he had very expensive jewels that were kept in his secret garden and Jonny wanted to seize those jewels for himself. He told me that he had already found the way to his secret garden. I asked him why he needed help from me. He said that I was somehow related to the death of Dan so he required help from me. I was very confused and I could not understand anything. Dan's death, me, and related, these three words kept echoing in my head that night...

The next day Jonny was knocking on my door very early in the morning. I was not in the mood to wake up and open the door so I think he slipped something under my door. When I woke up and went to the door I noticed that he had slipped a pack of chocolates under my door. I thought he had given them to me to say thank you but as soon as I picked them up something fell out of the packet. I realized it was a note. On the note were written in bold words " photodetector light-emitting diode " I was confused about what the words were supposed to mean but I thought it must have been something important so I put them back into my pocket.

That afternoon when I was shopping and I went to the counter, in bold letters were written the words "photodetector light-emitting diode". I realized that those words were written on my note. I figured out that this word means a barcode scanner. When I met up with Jonny I told him that the word on the note literally means a barcode scanner. He was happy with me for finding the meaning of the word.

He told me that we just have to find the barcode for the barcode scanner. He said that the barcode was of the chocolate packet he had given me. So I took them out of my pocket and handed them to him. That night we went to the journalists and got a copy of the barcode. Jonny told me to meet up tomorrow and he would take me to the garden.

The next day I met up with Jonny and he took me to the garden. He went back home because he had forgotten his phone. He told me to get the gems. I scanned the barcode on the scanner and the locker opened but to my surprise, there was nothing inside. Now everything became clear to me. When we went to the journalists last night Jonny had got a copy of the barcode and got the jewels to himself.

I tried to figure out where he went but it remained an unsolved mystery and for years it remained the same.
