The Parents Chapter 1

Shiva was a bank manager, and Bhavani a housewife, both fell in love in their college days.

They fought their parents and got married. Both of them waited for the blessing of their love, but with time they realized they couldn’t bear a child.

Their parents accepted them with time; they pushed Shiva to get married to a different girl. As his parents were sure, the medical reports were in his favor. Instead, he admitted that he couldn’t bear a child and not Bhavani. With his words, he saved his love and Bhavani.

Mani was the blessed child to Bhavani and Shiva. Bhavani and Shiva was not the biological parent of Mani, but it didn’t make any difference. They led a happy life Mani got sent to the school.

He was an average student, regularly doesn’t get enough attention. His school life kept moving, Bhavani struggled a lot to keep him motivated and did everything that she could do as a mother. There were several teacher parents meetings on Mani. His numbers did improve but not much in communication and English.

The First Encounter Chapter 2

Mani got promoted to 2nd standard. The kids started sitting in their new class. Shwetha came in, and she had a chat with the class teacher. A little girl was standing in her casual dress, with a small bag but was not nervous, unlike the other kids of her age. Shwetha left, and the class teacher introduced her.

Guna Mam: Kids, this is Nandhin, your new classmate, please welcome her.

Kids: Greeting her.

Nandini was an NRI, her mother Shwetha was a well-educated, and her father was a businessman.

Within few days Shwetha joined as a teacher in the same school.

Nandini was far different from other students. She grasps the things quickly, and her command over English was an exception. At the age of 7 years, she acted like the Ugly duckling single-handed and entertained the entire school.

Name the type of the event she participates in it, be it a sport, science or even the literature.

No doubt behind her success was Shwetha.

The Flux of Life Chapter 3

Back at home, Bhavani was dealing, with domestic violence. Shiva once loved, her to the core started hating her. He left his job wanted to live a luxury life.

Bhavani being an innocent, visited the astrologer. Astrologer pointed Saturn for his action, and Mani was the reason for Shiva’s behavior.

Bhavani didn’t believe in Astrology, she believed in herself. She did some courses in correspondence and earned a degree. Shiva divorced her and got married again, but Bhavani persisted in raising her son.

Mani was a good student, but he often got bullied by the other students for the way he was.

With so many things going in Mani’s life, he became a lackluster shabby boy. Slowly Mani’s performance went down, but for some reason, Nandini liked him a lot.

She was a winner, in almost every competition, she participated, but she does appreciate others.

In a Science exhibition where Mani participated, no one was interested in his prototype.

Nandini proceeded to his table and kept probing him, and she pulled her father and introduced him. Slowly their friendship got strengthened; she always finds time to encourage him.

The Departure Chapter 4

When Mani was at his sixth standard, it was a time to say Adieu. Nandini had to leave school as their parents decided to settle in London. It was the Nandini’s last day she wrote a poem on each of her classmates, she received her poem and gave an Adieu.

It was the difficult phase of life for the Mani. He lost two friends, Nandini and Bhavani got lost in her work. Time passed, so did life.

Mani went through various phases of life, most of the time alone. He made friends, everywhere but none of them could attain, the place of Nandini and Bhavani. Though Bhavani was present with him throughout his battle, she was not the same as she used to be.

One couldn’t blame her, as she was too a human with feelings and not a machine. With Scholarship and guidance of some good teachers, Mani became a Psychiatrist.

He is one of the leading Psychiatrists in his city.

The Reunion Chapter 5

Though it’s been almost ten years of completing the school, he was in touch with his school friends. With Facebook, he was able to get contacts with others as well. The two thousand Batch School group got formed. Slowly people started joining it, and all the lost memories and photos share started happening.

Someone posted their 6th std photo and the poem written by Nandini. The buried memories of Mani came alive; he was searching for the name. To his dismay, it was not Nandini.

He kept inquiring with his friends about her, few of them forgotten her, and others said they didn’t have any contact, with her.

Then there was a post, from Shwetha Mam.

Shwetha: Hi guys, how are you doing?

Not sure, how many of you guys, remember me.

Sati: I do mam

Shilpa: I do mam

Deoli, Varun, Vikram all followed.

Mani didn’t have much expectation but did have the hope, to meet Nandini.

They planned for a get-together, and it was at Deoli’s home. It was a simple get together party, after ten years, everyone in one place. The chit chat continued from the social site.

Shwetha mam attended the party. She was young as usual with some grey hairs.

Shwetha: Listen, let me identify my Students.

You Deoli right!

You Vikram!

You Mani?

Glad guys you made my day, happy to see you guys again, it reminds my day Chennai.

Deoli: Mam, we are glad to be in contact.

How is Uncle, Nandini mam?

Shwetha: They are good Deoli, Nandini works with her father. She is busy nowadays, and she shared their photo during their Norway Trip.

Shilpa: Nandini, exactly looks like you, Mam.

Shwetha: Thanks Dear, it’s a compliment for me.

Feel free to call me at any time I am in Whatsapp as well.

The party ended, and everyone was on their way home.

The Mani's Life Chapter 6

Bhavani was concerned about Mani’s Marriage, and she was looking for a suitable bride, for him.

Mani was a well-settled doctor. All his success got credited to Bhavani’s hard work. He has a separate clinic in the locality.

As he was leaving for the day, his assistant called him and said someone is waiting for him.

He was leaving, as he had to see a bride. The visitor was insisting him, so he accepted to see him.

Ravi: Good evening! Doctor, I am sorry to trouble you, in such short notice, Dr. Jagan has referred you. Mani recognized him in seconds, He was Nandini’s father.

Mani: No issue sir, He didn’t, inquire Nandini or Shwetha.

He let him speak.

Ravi: Mani I am a Ravi.

It is about my daughter Nandini, and he hands over his business card, to Mani. Here is her case history.

Mani was happy and confused as what Ravi was saying was not in line with Shwetha Mam.

He took the case file, and as he was checking it. He got a call from home.

Mani: Sir, if you don’t mind. I have to attend a family function. Will give you a call once I go through the history. Don’t worry sir this is a pass by phase.

Ravi got some hopes from Mani and left.

After seeing the bride, Bhavani and Mani came back home.

Bhavani: did you like, the bride?

What did she tell, shall we confirm?

She was the tenth girl, and this time as well Mani decided to reject. People called him a guy with attitude. In reality, those brides were demanding, separate family, and they wanted to settle in states, or along with their parents.

Mani kept rejecting them, so Bhavani doesn’t feel bad. He knows that Bhavani can do anything for her son’s future. Bhavani screamed at him and slammed the door.

The Case History Chapter 7

It was a tiring day Mani was not getting sleep, he opened Nandini’s file, referred to several medical sites, and books., to get a better understanding of her case. After his regular visits, he gave an appointment to Ravi.

Mani: Sir, I went through History. Does Nandini know about her?

Ravi: No, Mani. She has depression, so she thinks she is getting treated for it.

Mani: Has she acquired any character newly?

Ravi: No nothing recently.

Whenever she becomes emotional, she develops a personality,

Some of them are the people whom she liked the most,

Others are the people whom she wanted to be.

Mani: Sir, your entire family, got moved to India? I heard Nandini was looking after your business.

Ravi: Yes, that is right! It’s me, and Nandini.

My wife Shwetha passed away, seven years back in a terrorist attack.

Mani: sorry! to learn that sir, we'll start the session, from tomorrow.

She had 22 personalities within her. No one knew when and which person comes in the limelight.

She didn’t remember anything about them, and she accompanies her father for treatment of depression where the other 22 personalities answer the questions, to the psychiatrist.

She had personalities ranging from a pet, kids, teenage boys, teenage girls, transgender, leaders,

Gandhi Ji, Voldemort, Soldiers, Doctors, Engineers, Teachers, and her mother.

Nandini was intelligent and creative, yet she was left alone after her mother’s demise.

She had friends and relatives, but not when she required the most.

She searched for the love which was beyond her reach.

Her creativity helped her to cope, initially, she used it for writing a novel and short story, but with obsession, she started living with them, and they started living with her in reality.

Mani wanted to meet Nandini, but he didn’t expect to meet her in this way.

Session Chapter 8

Ravi and Nandini entered the room.

Nandini: Dr. Mani, nice to meet you. Uncle Jagan recommended you, and she shared a file history of her depression.

Mani: Glanced it, though Nandini was aware of her depression, she was not aware of her personalities that were evolving.

In each session, Nadhini became strong, Mani made her emotionally strong and helped her to rule the depression, and her personalities. Gradually one by one personality got buried in her memory, and he made her believe that they were characters of her stories. Mani had to understand about each of her character their needs to send them back, he worked hard, to know them from her work.

Shwetha: Hi, Mani. How come I am here? So this is your clinic.

Mani: Good to see you, mam.

There was a healthy discussion.

Then Mani asked her what happened after they left India.

Got her to the day Nandini lost Shwetha.

He told it’s hard to believe mam, life is hard and he convinced Shwetha to free Nandini.

Shwetha: I am happy to be your teacher, Mani.

Nandini: Doctor, is the sessions over. Shall I leave for the day?

I feel better, not getting blanked nowadays. I got into depression when I lost my mother.

Mani: I can understand Nandini. Just a few more sessions to go. Then you can fly back to London.

Nandini: Thank you, but we have decided to settle in India.

My father got emotionally connected to this city. With you being my new Friend, I wanted to invite you for an occasion.

Mani: Nandini, I don’t attend parties, etc.

Nandini: I know it it’s not a patient request.

You were more than a doctor to me, a well-wisher and a friend. Mani couldn’t reject her invite.

Throughout the night, Mani couldn’t sleep.

The Unsaid Chapter 9

He had an emotion for Nandini, which he felt only after losing her. He doesn’t want to lose her again. Next day, he visited the hotel. He wrote a letter to her, all these years he never cared about his appearance while getting down from the car he happened to see, it was a setback for his reliance, though he was a psychiatrist still couldn't defeat his complex.

Nandini got dressed in a Sari, she was waiting for him, he never saw her so happy, throughout the sessions. She introduced Mani to Rahul. He could see, emotions in her eyes, meant for Rahul.

Nandini: Meet Rahul, he is my fiancée, my love.

After battling my depression he is here to take me back, he waited for me without any condition.

Mani: congrats! Nandini, you two make a great pair.

Slowly, all her school friends joined the party.

Vikram: Mani, how are you?

We need to hold, another get-together party.

Nandini: Hi Vikram, you look the same. Do you know Mani? He diagnosed my depression.

Mani had several questions in his head. He continued to convince himself and kept his emotions, in control. He knew his efforts were as a profession and for love in their friendship.

Has Nandini forgotten Mani?

She was she triggering the jealousy, in him?

Love cannot be business, it doesn't come with benefits, but with responsibility. Mani’s love for Nandini remains the same without expectation.

Mani decides, to leave the place without an adieu. Someone hugs him, from the back and says.

I saw everyone who loved me, in you don't make me an orphan again.

There is no comparison between Mani and Nandini, but everything became a speck of dust in front of his selfless love, and Nandini realized it.
