The Two Brothers

Chapter 1 -

     It was the day the two brothers had been waiting for. The boys were visiting their uncle who owned a lighthouse in a fishing village on the coast of New England. Their uncle had gone out to post some letters and this gave them the chance to explore the mysterious room which he had strictly forbidden them from entering. 

 

The mysterious room was surrounded by one layer of pure steel. The two brothers took a huge shining hammer to break the steel before the uncle came back from posting the letters. The brothers sadly could not break through the room.

Suddenly, the younger brother, Eddy had an idea and ran down to go through his uncle’s drawers to look for a key. Luckily, he found it and, fearfully, they opened the door with a ‘’creak!

When they opened the door, they saw many axes with dry blood stains and an elephant, lion and other animal's skin lying across the floor. The two brothers had thought their uncle was a fisherman but actually he looked like a dangerous hunter ! The two boys also saw a hidden locker which was locked with 5 different locks of different metals which were gold, silver, platinum, bronze and iron.

Theo, the elder brother, was confused. He thought hard and remembered that he had read somewhere that a 5 lock box could be opened only with a magic spell. His heart was racing with excitement when he got the idea that the old lady at the lighthouse would have some knowledge of the puzzle.

The two boys went to the bottom of the light house and called the old lady who lived right at the back of the lighthouse. She was a kind and honest person. Her house was kind of collapsing because of the heavy rain. The house was very scary and deadly. After they took her up to the lighthouse, Theo prepared a hot coffee for the old lady, while Eddy had a two to three minutes of conversation with the old lady. After some time the old lady said, “I am your uncle's wife and also your aunt. Uncle send me out of the lighthouse because I told him to quit murdering and stay at home before you boys were born’’.

  Chapter 2 - 

    Eddy was so astonished that he could not utter a single word! He wondered how uncle had kept his marriage a secret for so many years. He kept looking at his aunt and found it difficult to believe that his uncle was actually a dangerous killer, not just a hunter. They began to think about how to solve uncle’s mystery with the help of that chest.

The two brothers with their aunt went inside the door with torches. When they switched on the lights of the torches, they all saw Uncle with blood all over him. In one hand he had a cut head of a person's blood dripping down with house flies surrounding it to eat it. On the other hand. he had an axe that was also dripping with blood 

The two boys gathered in courage and decided to hold their uncle down to the ground so that he would not escape from there or attack them. He seemed to be in an abnormal state. His eyes looked hollow and his words did not make any sense.

The two brothers each took a baseball bat and ran towards him. The uncle took his axe out to kill them all. The aunt ran towards the locker to open the 5 different locks. The uncle tried to stop her but the two brothers ran towards her and blocked the uncle’s axe before he could strike her with it.

He let out a ferocious cry and attacked them all together. ‘’ Who are you! You are not smart or brave enough to capture me. You silly boys! Do you think I will let you live after you have seen my secrets? You will all die and this axe of mine will make sure of that!!’’ 

They all heard a police car siren behind the lighthouse. The aunt saw outside the window and saw the policemen along with the village headman. The policemen ran up the lighthouse and arrested uncle. The aunt and the two brothers opened the locks and saw the headman’s elder brother’s head he had been missing for a long time and now his murderer had been finally caught. At last this great mystery was solved!.
