The Pretender.....

The courtroom is fully crowded. Outside the court, the crowd and media persons are too gathered. Today the hearing of a very important case is going on inside the court. The case is against a reputed socio- political activist of the state MrSurender Varma, who is around 55 years old. The complainant is none other than his secretary Sarita Kumari, who is working with him for more than 25 years and is around 45 years old. The case is now very important and interesting as the daughter of Mr. Surender, Miss Arati Verma is pleading for the complainant against her father. The most reputed criminal lawyer of the state Mr. Ramesh gupta is representing Mr. Surender. The case is about exploiting, blackmailing, and physically abusing Sarita Kumari and other poor innocent helpless women.Along with Sarita Kumari other women too filed complaints against Mr. Surender Verma.

Surender Verma is the son of a famous freedom fighter late Mr. Ashok Veema and late Shanti Devi. Surender had completed his education from the reputed college of the city and he was always been influenced by the social work of his parents. After completing his education he started actively working with his parents for various social causes of society. Though many political parties offered him to join them and do active politics, always he had declined their offers. When Surender was 21 years old, he lost his mother Shanti Devi. Then his father Ashok Verma too was not doing well health-wise. Then Ashok Verma got Surender married to his friend Ranjan's only daughter Sujata. Ranjan was a reputed businessman and Sujata was his only motherless child. After two years of marriage, Surender and Sujata was blessed with a beautiful daughter and Ashok Verma named her Arati. When Arati was 3 years old, she lost her grandfather Ashok Verma. Both Sujata and Arati were very shocked. Surender Verma had started two NGO, one for empowering the poor innocent women and another one for running a big orphanage with the school. He was very busy with his work. He used to go to every corner of the state and doing his activities for women's empowwrment. He had even opened many offices in the state. The poor and innocent families started giving him respect as their savior. Then in one meeting Surender met Sarita Kumari, who was educated, but was in search of a job as she lost her both parents. Sarita was beautiful and intelligent. Her talks and knowledge impressed Surender and he offered her the job to work in his office. Sarita was happy and joined his office. During that time Surender was always talking and fighting against the exploitation of women. He had raised his voice to take very serious and hard steps on those who are indulged in crime against women. He had been regarded at every level of the state. The political leadership of the state too always listen to him and they beg him for his support to win the elections. Though Surender was not in government, but is the most influential person of the state.

Sujata was taking care of Arati and also working as the secretary of Surender. When Arati joined, she started helping Sujata. After her joining Sujata was a bit relieved and she focused more on orphanages and schools. Sujata had trained Sarita on various important communications and office work. Surender too started liking Sarita's work. He was having a big weakness towards beautiful women and nobody knew about this. Gradually Surendra builds an illicit relationship with Sarita. One day this came to Sujata's knowledge and she reacted. Sujata wanted to fire Sarita, but Surender declined to do so. That day Sarita was very happy. She thought now she can have Surendra fully. This act of Surender had made Sujata leave his house with Arati. Later Sujata diverced Surendra. She joined her father's business and groomed her daughter.

After the diverce Sujata was taking care of Arati and giving her all the support. When Sujata and Surender were divorced, Arati was in 9th class. She had seen the humiliation of her mother by Surender's advocate with all lies. She had seen her mother crying like a child. There Arati took a decission of becoming a lawyer. She completed her 12th and joined an integrated law course under the central university. She was doing well in study. Here Ranjan the father of Sujata had a heart attack and made her last journey of life. Sujata was alone to handle the business. After two years of Ranjan's death Arati completed her law and joined the best lawyer 's office to work under him in Delhi.

Surendra and Sarita were having their affair and enjoying their life. Many times Sarita asked Surendra to marry her, but Surendra very cleverly giving some excuses and avoiding that. Surendra in the meantime started having affairs with some other women and exploitng them in the shake of giving job, arranging good education for their children. Also, he started exploiting the young girls of the orphanage and they kept quite with fear. Sarita came across one incident and with much difficulty could reach the clues. Then she was shocked. She never thought that Surender could be a such type of criminal. She started blaming her for not supporting Sujata Devi at the time of diverse. Now she had decided to teach lessons to Surender. She started collecting all solid proofs and very cleverly handled Surender. In the meantime, Sarita had taken four women into confidence and kept all proofs agsinst Surender. One day Sarita demanded before Surender to marry her. But Surender avoided that and fired her. Sarita resigned anf left his office.She joined another office and waiting for an oppertunity to expise Surender. Then on official work, Sarita had gone to Delhi and met Arati in that lawyer's office. After the work, Arati asked her why she left Surender Varma's office? Sarita briefly told her the reasons and Arati gave a smile and asked her "will you file complain along with others against Surender Verma? If you do so then I can fight for you. Think about it and let me know. Next month I will be with my mother at Rnchi for few days, you can come and meet us."

Sarita was veey happy. She thanked Arati and told her, "please convey my apology to Sujata Madam. I will meet you in Ranchi."Sarita left Arati's office and came to Ranchi. She met all four women and mentally made them prepared for filing the complaint. She also met the witness of some occasions of Surender's these hatred activities. As soon as Arati reached Ranchi, she discussed everything with her mother about her discussion with Sarita. Sujata was a bit reluctant, but when Arati told her that she is a lawyer now only to teach lessons to Surender. Then Sujata had agreed. The next day Sarita came to Arati with other four women. Sarita met Sujata and cried, she begged an apology to Sujata. Arati consoled her and discuss the case in detail. She prepared the F I R and advised Sarita and the team to be with her tomorrow to go to the police station to file the F I R. Also she had called her friends, who are now press reporters for a briefing.

As planned Arati was with Sarita and the team in the police station to file the F I R against Surender Verma. The police was reluctant first, but when they came to know the identity of Arati and her profession, they lodged it and given a copy to Sarita. Arati came out of the police station along with Sarita and others. There as planned Sarita briefed the press in detail. It had gone live. In the meantime, Arati on behalf of Sarita and her four aids filed a plea in session's court for their protection and it was granted. Now the police department was under pressure and they had no other option, but to arrest Surender. The police filed the charge sheet against Surender Verma in court today and the hearing is going on. Surender's lawyer Rajesh Gupta started doing cross-examination of Sarita and four other women. Arati was silent. After he has finished, Arati started doing a cross-examination of Surender. She started asking questions about his illicit relationship, his exploitation, his sexual desire, etc. That time Surender was feeling ashamed as his own daughter is asking such questions openly. He was begging Arati to stop asking such questions. Then advocate Ramesh intervened and Arati stopped asking questions. But then Arati started producing evidences with audio and video recording. She started presenting the various witness. Then Surender could understand that now he is finished. His advocate cross-examined the witness of Sarita, but his tricks couldn't work. This was going on inside the court room for more than six hours. Then the verdict of the honourable judge came, "With the proofs and witness of Sarita Kumari, it is proved that MrSurender Verma is found guilty of doing crime in exploiting women, blackmailing them, and having forceful sexual relations with innocent girls and women. He should be behind the bar for 20 years with a deposit of 5lakh rupees."

 After this hearing, Surender was taken to the zail by police. The public outside the court was shouting, "The Pretender... The Pretender... The blackmailer... The criminal...."

While briefing the media Arati was smiling and saying, " Now the real face of Surender Verma can be seen. I had seen it 12 years back. I know that he is The Pretender, but waiting for the common people to come out and say it. He is my biological father, but I hated this double-faced person The Pretender. Now the people of this state should be very careful and brave like Sarita and others to punish such types of people. "

Arati was very happy as this was her first case to fight independently, that too against the most experienced powerful person and she won it. Sujata hugged her daughter with tears at her success. Sarita and other women were giving compliments to Arati and Sujata.
