The Last Person I Loved - 08
The Last Meeting
After that incident, I stopped talking to her properly again.
Not because I hated her. Not because I wanted to punish her.
Honestly… I just didn’t know how to handle everything emotionally anymore.
For the next few days, she waited for me in the parking lot every morning like usual.
And just like before, I started reaching office late intentionally.
In the evenings too, I stayed back longer than necessary so I wouldn’t have to face those uncomfortable conversations.
But no matter how much I tried avoiding her…
my mind still revolved around her constantly.
Every notification made me check my phone. Every scooter sound near the office made me look outside automatically.
And finally, after a few days, we spoke again.
That evening, after office hours, we sat quietly near the parking area.
She looked tired.
Not physically. Emotionally.
“I’m sorry,” she said softly again.
This time, I didn’t stop her.
She explained everything calmly. How he wasn’t accepting the breakup. How he kept emotionally pressuring her. How guilty she was feeling.
And honestly… while listening to her, my anger slowly disappeared again.
Because no matter how upset I got with her…
I could never stay angry at her for long.
That was my biggest weakness.
Finally I asked quietly, “Did you clear everything now?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
“And he’s okay?”
“Yes.”
I took a deep breath.
“Okay then. Let’s forget everything.”
And just like that… somehow, we returned to normal again.
Or at least, we tried to.
Our routines slowly came back.
Morning parking-lot talks. Late-night messages. Quick rides before office.
And gradually, all the tension started fading away again.
Until one evening…
she suddenly said something that made my heart feel heavy instantly.
“He wants to meet me one last time.”
I looked at her silently.
“For closure,” she added softly.
Honestly, I didn’t like the idea at all.
But at the same time, I also understood something.
Sometimes unfinished endings create bigger problems later.
So after a few seconds, I simply replied, “Okay. I’ll come with you.”
That evening, after office hours, we reached the location where they had decided to meet.
It was a quiet area near the roadside.
I deliberately stayed far away because I genuinely wanted them to close everything properly and peacefully.
So while they talked, I waited near my scooter at some distance.
Almost half an hour passed.
Finally, she came back.
We quietly started heading home.
At first, neither of us spoke.
Then slowly, she started telling me what they talked about.
How emotional he became. How he kept asking her not to leave him. How difficult the entire conversation was.
I listened silently.
And then casually, in the middle of the conversation, she said:
“While leaving… he kissed me.”
For a second…
everything inside me stopped.
I looked at her immediately. “What?”
She looked down quietly. “He kissed me before leaving.”
My grip on the scooter tightened.
A hundred thoughts started running through my head at once.
“Why didn’t you stop him?” “Why didn’t you push him away?” “Why did you allow it?”
I wanted to ask all of it.
But instead…
I just stayed silent.
The entire ride after that became completely quiet.
And honestly, the silence was louder than any argument.
After dropping her, I left without even properly looking at her.
That night, I was extremely angry.
Not just angry. Hurt.
My mind kept replaying the same thing again and again.
But after calming down later at night, another thought slowly entered my mind too.
They had been in a relationship before me.
And maybe…
for a final goodbye, emotions became messy.
The more I thought about it calmly, the more I realized something important:
Love isn’t always clean and perfect.
People carry emotions, memories, attachments… and sometimes endings become complicated.
And slowly…
my anger disappeared again.
Because at the end of the day, the only thing I truly cared about was her.
And despite everything…
I still loved her deeply.
