Will You Stay Forever?

That early morning ride felt different.

Not romantic in some dramatic movie way. Not because anything extraordinary happened.

But because for the first time… I realized I didn’t just want her as part of my present.

I wanted her in my future too.

Till now, we had never officially proposed to each other.

Yes, we were deeply in love. Everyone around us already suspected it. We fought like couples. Cared like couples. Missed each other like couples.

But still… neither of us had properly said those words.

And honestly, I wanted that moment to be special.

Not expensive. Not perfect.

Just real.

For the past few weeks, I had secretly kept a ring with me. Along with a small earrings box I had bought for her.

I still remember how nervous I used to feel every time I thought about proposing.

Not because I doubted my love.

But because somewhere inside… I was scared of hearing silence.

That morning, while driving through the empty roads surrounded by farms, I suddenly slowed down the scooter.

She immediately asked,

“What happened?”

Instead of answering, I parked on the side of the road.

The area was completely silent.

No people. No traffic. Only cool wind moving through the fields.

I looked around once properly to make sure nobody was nearby.

Then I turned toward her.

She looked confused now.

“Why did you stop?”

I took a deep breath and looked straight into her eyes.

And in the most serious voice possible, I said:

“I want to end this relationship.”

The change on her face happened instantly.

Her smile disappeared.

Her eyes froze.

For a second, it genuinely looked like her heartbeat had stopped.

She tried to say something… but no words came out.

And honestly? For one moment even I felt bad seeing that expression.

Then before she could react properly, I slowly bent down on one knee.

Held her hand.

And continued:

“I want to end this relationship… because now I want you to become my wife, dhingulu.”

For two seconds she just stared at me blankly.

Then suddenly tears filled her eyes.

And immediately after that…

THAK!

She hit my shoulder.

Again.

And again.

“You idiot!”

I started laughing while protecting myself.

“What happened? I proposed nicely!”

“You scared me!”

I could still see tears in her eyes while she was hitting me.

Honestly… that moment is still one of my favorite memories of my life.

Finally I showed her the ring and asked softly,

“So… will you stay with me forever and ever?”

Instead of replying directly, she suddenly started teasing me.

“Hmmm? What did you say? I couldn’t hear properly.”

I looked at her in disbelief.

“Seriously?”

She nodded innocently.

I repeated again.

“Will you marry me?”

Again she leaned slightly closer and smiled.

“Haan? Little louder maybe.”

Now my knee had genuinely started hurting.

I said,

“Okay fine. Forget it.”

And I started getting up dramatically.

But before I could stand properly, she quickly grabbed the ring from my hand.

Wore it herself.

Then hugged me tightly.

Very tightly.

And softly said near my shoulder:

“Yes. Yes. Yes my love.”

I could literally hear her smiling while speaking.

Then she looked at me with wet eyes and added:

“And never ever talk about leaving me again.”

That sentence… hit directly in my heart.

At that moment, seeing her happiness… I genuinely felt like the luckiest man alive.

No money. No success. No achievements.

Nothing could match that feeling.

Then suddenly reality attacked both of us.

She checked the time and shouted:

“OH GOD! It’s already 7:15!”

We both started laughing.

Within seconds we rushed back onto the scooter and started toward her school.

But this time everything felt different.

Now officially… she wasn’t just my love anymore.

She was my future.
