The Intrepid

Once Swami Vivekananda was playing with his friends and dangling from a Champak tree in the vicinity. He was spotted by an old man who tried to frighten him and his friends not to do so as there was a ghost living in the tree!

And it would hurt and break the neck of anyone who dangles again from it!

Swami Vivekananda nodded and got down with his friends. The old man then went away. He was probably worried seeing them dangerously hanging upside down and wanted to protect them!

However after sometime Swami Vivekananda again went and dangled with his head down.

On being questioned by his friends he replied that he could not believe what the stranger had said without first testing it himself.

Swami Vivekananda was just 8 years old when this incident happened. This proves that he was fearless and logical right from his childhood!
