The Faithful

Rani and Raja were two labradors living with a family. They were very happy. They played all day long with Sohan, a ten-year-old kid, and their parents.

At night, they were both kept in a big iron cage. On that fateful day, the cage was kept in the balcony as there were guests in the house.

Rani heard a hissing sound. She called Raja and they saw a black cobra in the garden. They tried to call Sohan and their parents but alas! probably due to late night party, all were fast asleep!

Both of them decided to show their faithfulness. They began hitting the iron doors of their big cage. Atlast they were successful in opening the cage, but they were injured by hitting the iron walls continuously!

They were in no condition to fight the cobra,leave alone to walk only. Still they fought and killed the snake.

In the morning when Sohan opened the door of the house to take Rani and Raja for a walk, to his disbelief and horror, he saw them lying in a pool of blood. Rani was lying inside the cage while Raja was just outside it. A dead snake was also lying nearby.

They had probably been bitten by the snake while fighting and preventing it from entering the house. And also due to injuries sustained while hitting the iron walls!

Both Rani and Raja showed their faithfulness and prevented a deadly snake from causing any harm to the residents of the house. They did not care that they were inside an iron cage! They did not care for their lives!
