That Church Turning
That Church Turning
Part 1:
It had been two hours since I took the train to home. It was my first summer break after I started my college life. Crossing through the hilly mountains and area full of trees, having the window seat, the air outside the window was very pleasing. Keeping the elbow as on the window side and palm on my cheeks I was enjoying the air as it was striking my face and the hair was waving with the air and I found myself in a deep sleep and woke up with rain drops entering through the window.
I didn't know how many stoppage have I crossed. I could see a couple, may be newly married as I could see the mehndi on legs and palm. They were busy on their own. The rain drops were still entering as I hadn't closed the window. I checked my face on the mirror provided in the compartment, I could find a different hair style than with which I slept before. I corrected my hair style, arranged myself and sat on the window side, taking out the hands( only the palm and the wrist) outside the window and started enjoying the the rain drops falling into my hands. I was thinking of my summer plan and the tracking planned with the friends, how I spent my December break and all, suddenly a smile was there in my face as I thought of her, Roshni.
It was 13th december, my sister's birthday. Being the only girl child in the whole family, it was a big day for the whole family. The importance and care increases many folds for her on that day since her childhood. Even then, she crossed her 17, the same importance was still there for her. Being the eldest child and rest of the younger siblings are still at the start of their teens, I had to look after all the arrangements. As I was unable to attend her previous birthday due to my jee prep , she was quite angry with me.
In the evening, I went out with one of my friend for the delivery of cake and some of the items. While going to recieve the the delivery of cake, at the church turning first time I saw her, Roshni, as per the name, I could feel the light on her face, still in the evening and the street lights were yet to be switched on. Very next moment I could see me and my friend on the road with my bike on the other side of the road. Fortunate enough to be safe, but during this the rain water stored in the pits on the road splashed on her new dress. I was speechless but repeating sorry continuously but she was lost in her own. Capturing the facial reaction was enough to be a million dollar pic, but unfortunately I didn't had my camera with me. Finally she stopped her wordings but went her way without accepting my sorry. I felt sorry but very next moment I found some of the items not usable. I cleaned a little bit of my clothes, but effort didn't
pay off as clothes were still dirty. We decided to receive the the cake delivery with the same clothes as we were getting late.
I returned home and one of the things which I saw on my entry was her. I was like "did she come home for complaining?", and many thoughts was coming in my mind like "I am not going to get my bike for the planned trip with my friends" and many more. I went to my room, changed my clothes, came down the hall, everything was ready. She was still there. I asked my sis, "who she is?". She replied, " my friend". I was surprised rather shocked but couldn't do anything. Most of the time I spend capturing my pouts of my sis and her friends, the expressions of my family members, one of the harmful effect of only person in the family knowing to handle the camera. It was 11 pm, my duty of cameraman ended, so was the party.
It was next morning, evening the event was still in my mind but surprisingly I was yet to get a scold from either mom or dad. I asked my sis, "did your friend said anything last night". She asked, " who".
I saw her the pic. She said, "Ohh, Roshni, no, she didn't, but why". I just said some rubbish and diverted the matter and continued my work. In the evening, my sis came to me, gave me a long list, asked me to whatsapp the birthday pic to these whatsapp nos. I completed my last duty of the dedicated camera person, I sent them the pics. One of the contact was of Roshni. I decided to ask for sorry. I wrote a long message, may be 120-130 words and the only reply was "kk".
I decided to let the matter be at whatever state it is in and continue with my own. Late night, about 11 pm, yes late night for small town, I got a message, "Hey sorry for rude behaviour last night and on whatsapp and thank you for the pics." I replied, "kk". Next was a laughing emoji and the conversation continued, and ended her asking for a coffee next evening. She said, "ok, but I will come with my friend". I said, "ok".
Next evening I was waiting in the cafeteria, after approx. 8 min, she entered through the gate, a smile on my face, which turned into an abatement after seeing her friend which was non other than my sis. I was like, " what the f***, is she gone mad, and many things". Such things are expected from an frustrated engineering students. I welcomed them, ordered the coffee and some snacks, whole date just ended in 20 minutes. Next moment I could find my sister sitting on my bike, blackmailing me on whole way to my home, I went negotiating her with everything, even the elder brother attitude didn't work out. This high profile and sophisticated deal cost me my 2000 rs amazon voucher which I saved for my nike shoes and 1/4th of my monthly pocket money.
