Chai & Chandni Ch 7- No Electricity

Ameha got up this morning and out of habit checked her phone. No new notifications. 

"This is strange." She woke up shocked and sweaty.

The wifi was down, there was barely any network and no electricity. She screamed and rushed downstairs as if her soul left her.

"What happened? You okay beta?" Lata rushed out of the kitchen worried.

"Naani there is no electricity."

"You scared me Chandni. There will be no electricity for a week."

"A whole week???" She screached. "You guys don't have an inverter? Dad can send one. It's really helpful."

She smiled. "We don't need an inverter. This powercut is not by chance, its by choice."

"By choice?" She raised her eyebrows in confusion.

"Yes. It was Akshat's idea. You remember the guys who joined us yesterday? They are the Sarpanch's grandson. Akash lives in the city with their parents now but Akshat decided to live here with his grandparents. Although we are a small village but its always better to save electricity. Akshat suggested an idea to conserve. Did you see windmills here? I will show you. In a village so remote, it was only Akshat who setup the wind mills and came up with the idea.

The other idea is to cut-off electricity for a week twice a year. 

The village anyway has a cool climate. So why not save something."

"I think he is crazy Naani. Who stays without electricity!? No wifi. No battery. No fan or AC. He seems stupid to me. "

"No he isn't. He is the most intelligent one here. Although he stayed here. He didn't stop his studies or his interest to gain knowledge. Naanu showed you all the new agricultural methods being used right? All new equipments, methods, storage which helped the farmers a lot. All were Akshat's idea. Akash helps him too when he is here. They both are gems."

"Even Akash? I thought he was smar

"They both are. Now freshen up. The breakfast is ready."

" When will I leaveeee?" She thought and went back upstairs to freshen up.

After having breakfast, she was bored, the phone didn't helped much with the Wi-Fi gone.

"Nani.. I am going to the market."

"Okay Chandni. Do one thing for me too." She handed her a lunch box. "Give it to Naanu. He is in the fields."

She nodded and left. She bumped into Akash on the way to explore the village.

"Wow. Someone is out for another tan I see." He chuckled.

"And you are an integral part of it Akash. " She rolled her eyes. "I thought you were smarter than this."

"Hey. Hey. Hey. That's Akshat's idea. I am just a brother helping another. But don't you think this is needed? The detox from social media. I love the city life, but whenever I need a break, I rush my way back here. Life is slow. People are way nice."

"But don't you think you will miss important updates of the world?? Like Kim K having another baby or a controversy or Elon Musk throwing punches at someone ??"

"You are crazy Ameha. Lets go."

"Where?"

"A place you might like." He face lightened up.

"I trust you. I know you won't kidnap me. But before that I have to drop this. Can we go to the field first?"

They reached the field to see Kishor helping other men. Even the Sarpanch was actively involved. Ameha was impressed seeing that. And then she spotted the man who deprived her of electricity. Busy with the farmers under the hot sun, not worried about anything and actually enjoying the work. 

Akshat saw Akash & Ameha entering the fields. He waved at Akash and ignored Ameha.

Ameha didn't like it. She made an annoyed face and rushed to Kishor to deliver his lunch.
