The morning breeze uncovered the face of a soulless body that lay on its chest. It was a girl, wearing a striped jumpsuit. Patches of fresh blood spread all around her head.

Kiara, the investigator of the case, began the inquiry with the watchman. "Who is she and where did she live?" she asked.

"Ma'am, she's Sarah Khan who was a resident of this building," answered the watchman. She looked up at the tall building and nodded to the watchman.

"Did she live alone?" she asked.

"Yes, ma'am. But her friend Lucy was with her last night," he answered. Kiara nodded again and got in the lift with the watchman as he pressed the number 27 on the elevator panel.

She stood before a door reading, "Sarah Khan." She pushed it open. Her eyes swept the tidy room when a dairy on the center table caught her attention. She picked it up. The top page read My Dream Journal. Just below, it said, "28th February."

"Oh, just yesterday," she whispered to herself in surprise and without wasting any time, began reading.

At exactly midnight, the doorbell rang. I ambled to the door with my pounding heart and pulled it open.

"Hey, happy birthday!" Lucy, my bestie greeted cheerfully. She hurried in gasping and hugged me. Unwillingly removing her warm arms, I hurried to the kitchen to get her water. When I returned, Lucy wasn't in the room. I sauntered to the balcony knowing that's her favorite part at my house. I handed her the bottle there.

"Thanks!" she remarked, "I heard someone call your name."

"Really? Who?" I asked in surprise. Lucy stepped back and I leaned on the grill but saw no one down. I turned around when Lucy pushed me out of the balcony.

Why would my bestie try to kill me?

                                                -Sarah

Kiara closed the journal with a loud thump.

"Constable!" she called loudly, "Call Ms. Lucy right here!"
