Mystery Behind Sonia's Death

It was a bright sunny morning. The birds were chirping, the surroundings looked bright with colourful flowers and lush green grass. Nisha had gone for a morning walk with her pet dog Sam. Nisha lived with her parents in a housing colony and she had gone for walk in that colony’s park. Sam was a Labrador and it used to sniff everything. As usual, they enjoyed their walk on that day. Then Nisha stopped for a while and sat with Sam. They were present at the end of the park. Sam was moving here and there. 

Suddenly Sam smelled something and started running. Seeing it barking, Nisha started running behind. She reached one house of the colony where Sam became impatient. She opened that house’s gate and it ran inside. That particular house was the home of a lady Sonia, who had died five days before . Her death was considered as an accident due to leakage of gas while cooking. Sam sniffed all the things that it found outside her house. It found some remains outside the kitchen of Sonia’s house. Seeing that Nisha informed her parents and called the police. 

The local police were well aware of Sonia’s death. When police inspectors arrived at Sonia’s house, they detected that those remains were of bomb. They suspected that her death was a murder and not an accident. They meticulously checked all the belongings of Sonia’s house and saw that there was no cash and jewellery in her home. Then they got to know that her death was a planned murder with bomb being kept inside kitchen. They had not investigated the details of Sonia’s murder because the post mortem reports revealed that she had died due to inhalation of cooking gas.

After rigorous investigation, the murderer was caught and punished. He had stolen all money and jewellery from Sonia’s house and tied her in kitchen. He had placed the bomb in such a way that it appeared as burst of cooking gas cylinder. He confessed that he had committed the crime for want of money and had planned everything beforehand.

The police department appreciated Sam for helping them solve the case. Sam received an award and its photo was published in newspapers. It turned out to be a great sniffer dog. Labradors are good at sniffing substances and they help policemen and detectives with this trait.
