My Visit To Subway

For the past few months, I was facing writer’s block. I was unable to write as if my thoughts had fallen from my 24 story building and bled to death. A few days back, dejected and tired, I entered a Subway restaurant in Bandra East, Mumbai. I decided to have my favorite Veg Mexican Petty, unaware of the fact that I will find my muse too.
As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was welcomed with such happiness and enthusiasm. The waiters were singing and having fun together. They took my order and asked me if I wanted to have it or take it away. The positivity of the place made me have a sandwich in the restaurant itself.
The waiter thanked me for staying and said ‘Thank you, mam, because of you, there will be somebody in our restaurant.’ I immediately asked him Whether the restaurant wasn’t getting much business? He laughed and told me that because people are always in a hurry, they prefer to take the food along with them. I smiled and asked him to get the order fast.
While I was in the restaurant I saw all the employees singing and even dancing around. They were laughing and enjoying the work. The most amazing part was one employee telling the other how he can prepare my sandwich better. I stayed for half an hour. I watched them working happily. Maybe those people were not rich, not even middle class, maybe they earned little but they were happy in what they were doing.
While leaving I could not resist and I asked one of them that what made all of them so happy? He cheerfully replied, ‘our passion for the work we do, ‘ they became my muse to write about them and taught me that how important it is to love something if you are going to do it for your entire life.
