People survive in time only with the great memories they leave behind. Tara looked at the blank screen of her laptop, eyes welling in tears. Words that escaped her mouth quickly were finding it difficult to move within her fingers and reflect on the screen. The world had shattered around her. It no longer felt like a slice of heaven. She was tasked to write a eulogy about her mother, who passed away battling cancer. A disease that ate away her body bit by bit, causing immense pain and suffering. A few years back, when Tara would receive calls from her mother five times a day while she was busy at work would make Tara irritated and annoyed. She wanted her space and avoided her mother for long periods. That was the reason why Tara chose to move away to another city despite the fact that there were several other options in her town. She didn't want to live with her family. She yearned for freedom and not to be accountable to her parents for her decisions.

When her mother was diagnosed with cancer, Tara did everything she could to help her mother. She took her to the best hospitals, and after intense treatment that involved several rounds of chemotherapy, her mother managed to defeat cancer. Alas! It returned like a thief and robbed her mother of her life. As Tara sat there, grappling with the memories and emotions flooding her mind, she realized the profound impact her mother had on her life. Through the tears, she began to type, pouring her heart into the eulogy.

"Today, we gather here to bid farewell to a woman who was not only my mother but my guiding light, my inspiration, and my best friend. Cancer may have taken her from us physically, but her spirit and love will forever reside within our hearts.

As a child, I didn't fully understand the depth of a mother's love. I was busy chasing my dreams and seeking independence. I wanted to create my own path, and in doing so, I unintentionally distanced myself from the one who had always been there for me.

But when life dealt her a cruel hand in the form of cancer, I was jolted awake to the reality of how much she meant to me. I saw the strength and resilience she displayed throughout her battle, fighting with every ounce of her being, not just for herself but for her family's sake.

She taught me the true meaning of courage and selflessness. She endured immense pain and suffering with a smile on her face, never wanting to burden us with her struggles. In her darkest hours, she managed to find light and positivity, filling our lives with hope even when hers was slipping away.

In caring for her during those challenging times, I learned the value of compassion and empathy. I realized that true freedom was not about being independent of my family but about cherishing the precious moments we have together and supporting each other through thick and thin.

As she battled cancer, I witnessed the power of love and how it can conquer even the most formidable challenges. Her love for us and ours for her were unwavering, a bond that transcends time and space.

Today, as we say our goodbyes, I am filled with a mix of emotions. The pain of losing her is immense, but so is the gratitude for the love and wisdom she imparted. She may not physically be with us, but her spirit will always be our guiding force.

I promise to live my life in a way that honors her memory, cherishing every moment with my family and showing compassion to those in need. I will strive to make a positive difference in the world, just as she did in our lives.

Rest in peace, dear mother. Your love will forever be etched in my heart, and your great memories will carry me through the toughest of times. Though you may be gone from this earthly realm, you will always be present in our thoughts, our laughter, and our tears.

Thank you for being the best mother anyone could ask for. Your love is my eternal treasure."

As Tara finished writing the eulogy, a sense of peace washed over her. She knew that although her mother was no longer physically with them, her legacy of love and strength would endure, shaping Tara's life and the lives of others she touched. She closed her laptop and embraced the memories of her mother, knowing that she would continue to survive in time through the great memories they left behind.

Years passed by, but the void that was present with the absence of Tara's mother could not be filled. Whenever her phone used to buzz in between her office work, she yearned to see the words 'Maa' flash on her screen. She missed her mother every single day. Her family calls her often, but she realizes that they do so for their own selfish needs. Either to vent and complain or to seek help. Nobody asks her about her well-being. That's when she realized that only her mother loved her deeply and selflessly.

A mother is the only person and relationship you can trust blindly, knowing she will never fail you even when you forget them.
