Little Moments Make Big Memories

It was on Sunday at 8 am, Surya was relaxing. Wife Priya was out of station. When he was cleaning the book almirah, a file containing papers fell down. On going through these papers, he recollected unforgettable memories of a decade back. 

On that morning, the sun was bright, and the sunlight was warm and not harsh. A group of three people knock on the door of Surya's house,  'Rainbow' in Maruti colony, Pavanpur. The time was 7 am. The continuous knock irritated Surya. At the same time he  received a text message from an unknown mobile number saying,

"Meet me urgently at your rear door."

Surya  was in a dilemma whether to meet the unknown person at the rear door or open the main door. Observing his uneasiness,  wife Priya asked, 

"Surya, who is knocking at the door 

and who has  sent  messages on your mobile?

He too was unable to know  from whom the unnecessary disturbance was created. 

"Surya, I will see the man, who sent a message through the small rear door window. Don't open the main door till I come back," said Priya. 

She saw an old man in a traditional dress and putting tilak on his forehead appear to be a spiritual person. He was speaking while sitting on his two wheeler to another person on the mobile. He typed yet another text in the mobile to Surya. The message is as  under.

"Be alert with the door knockers. Need not worry. God protects noble people like you." 

When she came back, to her great shock, Surya was in heated arguments  with his business partners, maybe door knockers. He introduced Priya to his friends. She was very much angry to see Raman, who was known to her.  Without wishing the guests,  she went inside lying on the bed with non-stop tears.

Raman was also angry with Priya that she married Surya. The reason was  Raman loved Priya. But Priya rejected him. He spread rumors that Priya promised to marry him.  

Suddenly, the business partners  Murugan, Sheshadri and Raman turned violent. This was the first occasion after three years that partners outburst on Surya.  In the midst of the arguments, all left to meet a lawyer to dissolve the firm. 

Surya didn't return even after three hours and didn't reply to her repeated phone calls.  She lodged a complaint with the police. Priya was about to leave home,  there was a sound in the kitchen. The black cat after drinking milk in the vassel escaped from the window. In the process, the brand new designer cup saucer set containing six fell down and pieces spread all over in the kitchen. Priya was too scared. She went to the police station and registered a first information report. 

 Surya and Priya married just six months ago in a temple under very special circumstances with the protection of police. They married against the wishes of their parents. 

Pavanpur being a famous tourist center, a large number of tourists visit from within the country and abroad.  In addition to his travel agency  business, he  was working as a guide to tourists. Surya  who belongs to Pavanpur and is well conversant with six languages including English. He used to get hefty amounts from the tourists. 

One day, among the several tourists, a young beautiful girl from Bengaluru was asking questions to Surya. He answered by showing the monuments and rare spots to her. During the half an hour question and answer, she was very much impressed by him and this led to falling in love with him. Surya closed his day's work at 4 pm, and everybody left. She alone remained. With a surprise, Surya asked,

"Madam, why are you staying and not joining with other tourists?

"Sir, I have another question not about the place."

"Then, what do you want to ask?"

"I don't know how to start."

"Unless you ask me, how can I respond?"

Without fear, she said, 

"I am Priya, a practicing lawyer in Bengaluru. I love you."

Surya was surprised and he was mum for a moment. 

"Sir, take your own time before I leave this place after three days." 

"Priya, without knowing about me, how you have taken a big decision in life."

"Sir, face is the index of a man."

About half an hour of conversation between them mainly about their family background continued. Surya too loved her. He conveyed okay without realizing the repercussions.  Love birds made bold decisions, surprised by his/her parents, near and dear. These guys proved the famous adage,  'love is blind.'

Surya bought a newly constructed house soon after the marriage by  obtaining a loan from the bank and from his savings . Priya also helped him to buy the house. She started practicing law at Pavanpur.

Police traced Surya in the Mata Travel Agency in an unconscious position. Priya also arrived there at the same time. She became nervous and admitted him to the hospital. He recovered from the pain after six  hours and advised to take rest for a week.  Police recorded a statement from him. Accordingly, police jumped into action to arrest Raman and others.  But they were absconded. The trio traced out at Mumbai airport after one month. They wanted to fly to Dubai with the bounty without giving a share of Surya. Raman accepted his guilt for beating Surya only to take revenge. The criminal case was filed against all the accused in the court. It  took one year for final judgment. Punishment was given to all the three accused depending upon the nature of their crime.

On the day of judgment, it was a great surprise for Surya and Priya to see their parents in the court hall. The person who brought the elders was none other than an old man, who sent messages on that day. His efforts of joining the elders with their children was laudable. 

Surya came out of the old memories, when Priya arrived from Bengaluru. 

He was happy that 'little moments make big memories.'
