Kalpana Chawla

Kalpana Chawla was one of the great astronauts of India. She went on two space missions. In the first mission, she was successful. But in the second mission, India lost this great astronaut.

For the second mission, Kalpana Chawla was to start her mission in a Columbian rocket accompanied by other six astronauts. But their flight was delayed because the rocket was not in a good state. Even the thermal power plants were not working properly. Thermal power plants are put in a rocket to resist the heat and pressure exerted on a spacecraft when it passes through the atmosphere. When everything was repaired, their mission was started. As soon as the spacecraft took off, the Columbian scientists discovered that there was a small hole in the thermal power plant.

But they did not inform the astronauts because of three reasons:

1) The spacecraft had taken off and it cannot be recovered.

2) Telling the astronauts would only discourage them.

3) There was a chance that everything would go well.

The rocket exited the atmosphere smoothly, but while returning, the thermal power plant broke completely and the rocket was shattered into pieces. This was how the story of the talented Kalpana Chawla ended.
