"What are you wearing Kriya?" Screeched my aunt.

I had just arrived at her place with Kriya Bhabhi as she had requested my Mum.

'Please send Priti and Kriya to my place Bhabhiji. It has been a while since I met those two.'

And now that we were here she was complaining about Kriya Bhabhi's outfit.

She was wearing a jeans which was ripped in a few places with a western style top. Her outfit covered her body completely as contrast to my short dress. But I wasn't scolded for that.

Even a few minutes after we had entered the house and settled on the sofas in the drawing room she kept on cribbing about Bhabhi's outfit.

"Your Phoophaji will be back from work any minute now and you are wearing this.

I wanted to ask her, "Do you want us to go back home Buaji?"

But kept quiet. Divorced women like me have to remain silent on multiple occasions.

I remembered having picked up a fight with a neighbor a month ago as her guest's kid had rung our doorbell multiple times during the day while playing outside the house.

"She has grown really frustrated after the divorce Kusumji..." She told my mother the very next day following which my mother asked me to keep my justice craving mind and my truth speaking mouth shut.

I remembered it was the same neighbor who complained about her husband almost every single day and wished to have never gotten married. Not to mention their fights that had been heard by the entire neighborhood.

Also my aunt who had always asked me to dress as per my wishes and not let my in-laws control me was now trying to control Kriya Bhabhi's dressing style.

I just sipped tea from my cup and sat quietly bearing the hypocrisy of the people around me. Unable to do anything about it.
