Home Work

The school bell rang. As Rohan ran towards the school bus, he was thinking about all the pranks he would play at home. His uncle, aunt and cousin Sameer were visiting his family. By the time Rohan reached home, they would already be there.

Rohan rang the doorbell several times with excitement. Sameer opened the door, with equal excitement. Rohan rushed in, threw his school bag into his room and went to Sameer to discuss all the naughty things they would be doing. Playing pranks was fun only when Sameer was around.

After a day full of excitement, Rohan realised that he had not done his homework. But he was very tired and fell asleep almost immediately.

“How many of you have not done the homework?” shouted Kadam mam. Rohan stood up, along with two others. Suddenly, Rohan’s grandmother came into the class and said, “Rohan and his cousin were busy playing pranks on all of us at home yesterday. Look they have destroyed the sweater I was knitting for Rohan’s baby sister.”

“And they hid my spectacles. Look I found them broken under my cot.” joined in Rohan’s grandfather.

Rohan’s father complained “They messed up with some important papers I got home from office, while taking the laptop from my bag.”

“They messed up all my ironed sarees in my suitcase while searching for Sameer’s toy gun.” said Sameer’s mother.

“These were all Rohan’s ideas. I was just doing what he told me to do!” declared Sameer.

“LIAR!” shouted Rohan, and woke up. “Thank god it was a dream!” he said to himself.

It was half past midnight. Rohan’s conscience would not let him sleep.” He got up from his bed, washed his face and sat at his table to do his homework.

The next morning, Rohan apologised to everyone for all the damage he had done to other’s belongings. He realised that the damage was serious, and that he would not be forgiven so easily. He promised that he would not play pranks and would be careful while handling other’s belongings.” And he meant every word of the apology.

Following Rohan’s example, Sameer to apologised to everyone.
