Her Birthday…

At 6 o'clock in the evening, all the friends came in Nikhil's grand bungalow with the gifts. Nikhil blew the candles and cut the cake. One of his Friends grabbed a small piece of cake and stuffed in Nikhil’s mouth. Another friend grabbed a large piece of cake and quickly plastered all over his face. That evening all friends celebrated his birthday and went out for a dinner party.

Same evening maid came with her 7 years old daughter to clean the room. Pieces of cakes were everywhere. Some of it was crushed under the feet. Beer bottles were rolling here and there. That little girl’s birthday was also on the same day. But she hadn’t said to her mother. She took the broom and helped her to clean the floor. After then her mother finished the mopping, and then they went out home.

Walking beside the road they passed nearby the shops. Her mother said, “You sit here, I’ll be here in a minute…”

That girl nodded and sat there on the chair. Her pitiable eyes got busied watching the vehicles passing on the road.

Her mother was returning from the shop. She had hidden something in her hand. As she came near to her and revealed it in front of her daughter’s eyes. As she saw it her face lit up gleefully. She took the chilled fruity and pressed it over her cheek. With a blooming smile, she asked her,

“Maa, you really knew that today is my birthday??”

“Of course! How can I forget my dear daughter’s birthday?” after saying, she cupped her smiling face in her palm and kissed on her forehead with motherly love.
