Ramani was a student of class X who was going to her house in the evening as she left school. On the way, she saw that a girl older than her was going away with the help of her crutches. A dog was also going after her. When some mischievous children pierced the dog from behind, the dog barked and escaped. But suddenly she got scared due to the straying of the dog and her crutches were escaped. The girl whom Ramani saw and ran before she fell, picked up the crutches and held her back so that she would not fall. Nutan Ramani was impressed by the behaviour of Ramani

She smiled and thanked Ramani. Ramani also smiled upon seeing her and both of them had formal talks. After walking some distance together, Ramani stopped in front of the colony gate and asked for permission from Nutan and said "I live in this colony" and she said, "I live in the slum area in front of this gate". Both of them went home on their way with a dear farewell.

After that day, sometimes in the evening, both of them would meet, talk and go to their respective homes. In a few days, they would have a good friendship. They started living like sisters among themselves. Ramani also started calling her sister. Once, she also called her to her house on her birthday. She had also brought a gift for her. After giving it, she went to her house. But neither of them knew that their friendship would not last long.

Their friendship came into the public eye. Do not know why people did not like their friendship. Neither she could understand nor Nutan. But both of them were innocent. She did not understand the intention of the people. They both did not know any discrimination. The only daughter Rmani was seen as a big sister and good friend in Nutan..

The colonies started filling the ears of Raman’s mother. They were Complaining about friendship. Those people could not bear it and whenever they saw Ramani talking to her, they would stop her. When Nutan's family came to know, they did not say anything. They liked their friendship because they had seen Nutan so far for poor and disabled daughter happy for the first time in such respect. Those people were silent. Her parents often saw her coming home crying after hearing her taunts the people. They were happy to see her happy.

Between this innocent friendship, walls of poverty, high and low inequality were raised. Ramani's mother scolded her a lot and threatened that "If I saw you talking to that handicapped girl, then get out of the house and then live with her," Ramani was also scared of her mother’s threat. She thought, If her mother truly removed from the house, all her comforts will be taken away and the education will be hindered. She was told that friendship should be done with equal people. This thought was filled her mind in such a way that since the second day she turned her face from  Nutan forever, forever.
