After her mother's funeral, Elena could do nothing but sob. Her father tried to comfort her, but he soon gave up.

Elena, a very introverted person, had only her mother to tell her pain. But now she was gone, because of cancer. She wouldn't talk to her dad; he didn't care for her. Or so she thought. Her dad didn't talk to her because he thought she couldn't stand him, and he did not want to disturb her mental peace.

On a Monday morning, her dad left for work. Elena made up her mind to jump off a bridge near her house. Before she left her house, she saw a box in which her dad had collected her mother's things. She found her mother's diary in it. She cried and randomly opened a page. It said:-

I wish I could tell Elena how much her daddy loves her, but she is far too stubborn for that. How will she cope when I'm gone? This cancer won't let me stay with her for more than a few months. I've chosen not to tell her, for obvious reasons. I wish she would understand her father more.

Elena looked up and thought, "Pretty sure Dad forged this. How much does he want to blackmail me?"

At that moment, her dad entered the house. Elena burst at him, "Why don't you love me?!"

Her father replied, "I do love you. But you don't. I don't want to bother you."

"What? If I knew you loved me, I would love you with my heart."

"Well, now you know."

Elena was left in shock. It was a great surprise to her. With her voice cracking, she said, "Daddy… p-please forgive me, I-I didn't know."

"No worries. Wanna go out for ice cream?"

She was amazed at how easily a father could forgive his child. She cried on the inside, but smiled outside and said, "How about that?"

She never doubted, judged, or assumed anything or anyone in her life without asking them, ever.

Yes, she moved on, for her mama.

And dad.
