Is it a Crime?

Is it a Crime?

"Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions", very well said by Winston Churchill.

I always have this question in my mind, why do I need to be diplomatic when I know the fact and why I need to mince the words which can even mislead people. There is always one point in life where we need to accept what is right and what is wrong, so why not now?

Truth is like a spring, the more you try hiding or pressing down, the more it will bounce back. Being straight forward or direct is the crime?

After getting six rejections, today it was her seventh interview. Her very close friend called her to wish her all the best.

"All set for the interview? the friend asked

"I am always set but it is the employer who doesn't understand my mindset", saying this Amrita started laughing.

Graduate in journalism with a lot of enthusiasm, Amrita left her hometown Bangalore to seek a job in Mumbai. She in fact was loaded with too many offers as soon as she landed and got the job within one month of reaching to Mumbai. This is the fact about Mumbai; it is the city where your dream comes true.

Initial one year was a learning phase for Amrita and she even did well as a trainee. She became permanent soon after her training program was over and now the real battle started. Amrita's direct and honest work style people used to admire in her office but simultaneously her rising fame became a reason for jealousy for a few seniors. Honesty is all about having a direct approach or Seedhi Baat and few people can take advantage of this frank approach against anyone.

Under project Clean India, there was a sting operation for drugs racket in one of the high-end parties. After getting all the proofs, Amrita was all excited to publish but the editor stopped her due to internal pressure. This one incident changed her perception of the company she was working for. Well, even before she would resign, the media house itself asked her to leave. The colleagues who were against her fame had this right opportunity to kick her out and they did make sure that this happens.

Since then Amrita has been giving interviews and keep on getting rejections, do you know the reason why?

One question that she is always being asked, "Why did you leave your last job?"

Her reply was, I could not stand wrong and told my boss, what is the point of you holding this position when you need to only follow what your seniors are asking you to do.

After hearing this, each and every recruiter used to reply, we need a diplomatic person and not someone who is so direct.

Today it was her seventh interview and she reckons scene from 3 idiots where the recruiter says, "Aapka itna frank behavior hamari company ke liye theek nahi hai, client ko handle karne ke liye hamein diplomatic admi ki zarurat hai, aap kuch zyada hi straightforward hai…..and after a pause, salary discuss kar le?"

We can keep guessing whether she got the job or no. But I just want to relate this to an auction ceremony in which people quote different prices for an antique but finally it is sold to the person who bids the highest amount. Do you know the reason why? The reason is, that person knows the real worth of that antique. Sakshi is that antique who needs someone with that eye to hire her. Her Seedhi Baat can be used as a benefit to the company if someone can really make use of it. People like her do struggle more compared to others however the time when they get the correct opportunity then there is no looking back…

Aaja karle Seedhi Baat

Na teri haar na meri haar

Yeh to hai bas nazariye ki baat

Na tu saham, keh de man ki baat

Bolne de, tokne de, rokne de, todne de

Samay hai har marz ka ilaj, na chupe kisi ke raaz

Aaja karle Seedhi Baat…

"Life is complicated; let's have a direct and straightforward approach to make it simple"
