Angel In Disguise!!!!

Srilekha came running to a police station to meet her mother Gayathri. She barged in and looked around. Gayathri was seated in a corner of the room, She was beaten black and blue by the cops. She was shivering and tears rolled down profusely. She noticed Srilekha and stood on her feet with difficulty to console her Daughter.

Srileakha came running to her mother and hugged her tight, She was not aware why Gayathri was arrested or detained. She looked around and found SI Mahantesh. She went to him and in an infuriated state and asked him.

"Excuse me, sir, why did you arrest my mother? Who gave you the right to raise your hand in her? Don't you know the rules or are you so ignorant? I can complain against you in court. Release my mother right now...Did you hear that... Release my mother right now". The last sentence was very loud.

SI Mahantesh "Look I know you are angry but let me explain, Your mother is involved in child trafficking. Someone had complained to us almost 4 months ago. We investigated this case and found your mother guilty so we had detained her. You need not teach us rules and regulations. We know what we are doing and how to get the truth out from a criminal. So just wait for some time, got it".

Sri was upset and her anger knew no bounds. "How dare you call my mother a criminal?? What proof do you have to prove your point? This is ridiculous. If you don't release my mother in 5 minutes. I will call the media and inform them about your atrocities".

SI Mahantesh lost his cool "Go call the media, I am not afraid of anyone. Don't try to scare me with all this bull shit. If you speak one more word, I will put you behind bars. stop all this Natakbazi and wait there for some time until Inspector comes. He went on rounds and will be here shortly".

Gayathri pulled Sri aside and asked her to keep quiet. She did not like someone talking to her Daughter with disrespect.

Inspector Dayanand arrived after 30 minutes and enquired with Mahantesh about the cases and reports. He looked at Sri and enquired about her with Mahantesh. After a few minutes, Sri and Gayathri were called inside the cabin.

Sri and Gayathri folded their hands and greeted Inspector Dayanand.

Dayanand asked Sri to be seated, In their cabin already a lady about 55 years old and a man about 22 years old were seated. 

Inspector Dayanand spoke after formal greetings."Sri do you know who is this??". He pointed his hand towards the lady. 

Sri nodded her head as no "No Sir, I haven't seen her before. 

Dayanand introduced them to her "This is Mrs. Radhika Lokanathan and This is her son Mr. Vikas Lokanathan and you are Srilekha Lokanathan".

Sri felt a sudden jolt in her body "No Sir, I am just Srilekha Daughter of Gayathri. I don't know who is this Lokanathan and I am not related to them. I am seeing them for the first time in my life. Trust me I am telling the truth". She was confused.

Dayanand smiled "Let me tell you the complete story without beating around the bush. This story is dated back to16 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Lokanathan came to Lord Venkateshwara temple of this village along with his one-year-old Daughter, Your mother Gayathri kidnapped you when they both were busy praying to the lord with their eyes closed. They searched everywhere and could not find you. They returned with empty hands. They tried their best to find you, but they failed. Alas, your father passed away 6 months ago. Your Mother came to us and filed a missing complaint with us.

After an investigation was done, we found that your mother Gayathri is a transgender and many eyewitnesses claimed that they saw Gayathri picking the child from a nearby temple. So now you tell me who is your mother? Isn't Gayathri a criminal?? 

Sri looked at Gayathri, she could not believe that her mother could do something like this. She went closeby to Gayathri and held and face lovingly and asked her "Amma, I won't believe these people. I know you well and I LOVE YOU as you are. Please tell them what had happened on that day. I cannot bear people calling you, child trafficker. 

Tears rolled down from Gayathri's eyes. She hugged Sri and ran her hands on Sri's heads lovingly. She looked at Radhika who was crying and eagerly waiting to hug Sri. 

Gayathri spoke for the very first time "Amma, I did not kidnap your child. Trust me, I am not the kind of person who would harm others. I may be enunch, but not hard-hearted. That day I was returning home after begging on the streets. I could hear the baby cry near the temple. I went there and found your child. I looked around and no one was found. I took a baby to the temple office and made announcements. No one came forward to claim the baby. At last, I was left with no other option, so I brought her home. I looked after her as my own kid. She brought happiness into my life. She filled my home and my heart with love. I stopped begging and started doing petty jobs because my Daughter told me not to beg on the streets. Somehow I managed to send her to a good school. I did not hide anything from her, She is aware that she is an adopted kid and I am a transgender. Everyone in my neighborhood made fun of her but she did not take it to her heart. She is an angel in disguise to me. I beg you not to take her away from me. Please Amma, I beg you" saying so she held Radhika's legs firmly.

Inspector Dayanand frowned and took Gayathri aside to speak to her in private.

Dayanand in a calm and subtle voice "Gayathri, I understand your feelings and your love for that poor kid. you have done a great sacrifice to upbringing her. Just consider one thing, What about her future? You struggled hard to pay for her fees and ends meet. In the future, she might have a problem finding the right match because people will not accept a transgender as a mother in law.

So it's good if she is sent back to her biological mother and brother. Please think about it. I am sure you want Sri to be happy.

Just one more sacrifice can settle her life.

Gayathri was going through the sea of emotions. She assured Dayanand that she will send Sri with Radhika for her better future.

Meanwhile, Radhika and Vikas tried their best to convince Sri to go with them. After lots of discussions, Finally, Gayathri convinced Sri and sent her with Radhika. It was an emotional bid.

Gayathri was released and cleared from all charges. Gayathri went home with a heavy heart and tears in her eyes. Sri was an apple of her eye. She felt lonely again and did not feel like living there. Memories of Sri haunted her. She thought in her mind that she would vacate this house and move on the next day as the sunrise.

Next day when she woke up and was preparing tea. She heard knock on the main door. She opened the door and could not believe her eyes. Sri was standing there with tears in her eyes.

Sri pushed Gayathri aside and stepped in, She sat on the chair looking away.

Gayathri in a worried tone "Sri, what happened?? Why did you come back?? You will be happy there and you will lead a good life there beta. Listen to me, I am saying this for your good".

Sri was in no mood to listen "Amma, why did you bring me home 16 years back?? You could have left me in an orphanage. You looked after me so well. You sacrificed your life for me and now you want me to dump you just because of my biological parents and their riches. No Amma, You did not teach me to be disloyal and greedy. I cannot leave you for my future. We share a bond that's beyond words. You were my lovely mother, you will always be my lovely mother. I give a damn to society that does not accept this relation.

You are my angel in disguise...I love you Amma. Please don't tell me to leave you and go away". She uttered this in one go and put her hands on Gayathri's neck.

Gayathri was dumbfounded, She looked at Sri with pride.
