*Aye, fellow countrymen, would you mind shedding a drop or two of your tears. For the great sacrifices of our ‘Martyrs’. As long as, they could stand the bullets, they stood firm, when they were unable; they laid down their lives. *The speaker blared.

Tears did swell up, in my eyes. As, I stood among hundred more people from different parts of the world. Who have gathered here, to pay tribute to this martyr. Born in a small village of the then Punjab (now in Pakistan), his dream was to protect his ‘Motherland’, like his own mother of flesh and blood. He got enrolled as a ‘Sepoy’, into the then Punjab Regiment, of Indian Army. An old saying goes: “A Soldier is Never Off Duty”. And even death could not stop him from accomplishing his dream.

pired. While escorting a mule column. As, he slipped and fell into a stream. The fast current carried his body, two kilometers. From the site of accident.

His broken ribs had punctured his heart. But his dream was left untouched. For attaining it, he appeared in his dearest colleague’s dream, to inform him, “My friend I lay on a cold rock by the stream. Please help me accomplish my dream!”

They found out his lifeless body drenched in icy water. And buried him according to his will.

From that day onward Late General Harbhajan Singh, would inform, his comrades of any danger advancing towards his Motherland – INDIAN! not verbally but in their dreams.
