We wanted to enjoy the sunrise, unveiling the border so we had crept out of our beds and hurried towards, Nathu la pass, when it was night. It was at night, we planned to stay back in Sikkim, before leaving for Darjeeling.


It was at night, when both of us heard the galloping of a horse and a sudden seize.

It was at night, when we had experienced a paranormally, soft breeze caressing us. And then, nature had plunged into the Black hole, again.

It was at night, we had gunshots. Twice from a BSF officer at the borders and twice from behind us. Ensuring the presence of an Officer; though none of were.

It was at night we did not turn back.

It was at night we had a walk to the Indo-Chinese border, closer than people were really permitted to go…


At the day break, when we were busy pretending to have woken up fresh, our grandmother, beckoning us, said (grinning) “It was at night, he had succumbed to death, (take a break to cough) last night was his death anniversary. He is still on duty and serves his country selflessly, protecting his fellow soldiers, by anticipating about every attack, in their dreams…” As she went on, we freezing, but felt the same …paranormally, soft breeze caressing us… And we knew, it was at night, we had been privileged to witness his unseen presence…In case you are wondering, it was at night, when we had a clear view of the border, unstopped by any Officer on duty.
