World Finally Slept Tonight...

NOTE: This poem is my imagination of the first night after the 1st World War. It's just a work of pure imagination.

After so many broils and a lot of fight,

The world has finally slept tonight!

9 million dead, 20 million injured, ‘twas the first industrial war,

‘Twas proved right, everything is fair in love and war!

Not everyone slept peacefully tonight, 

Some went to bed with tears, some with fright,

Some with terror for the coming plight,

And some, still with conspiracies to show their might,

….. But the world finally slept tonight!

There was loss of love, life and property,

Most of them thrown beneath the lines of poverty!

Nothing seemed wrong, yet, nothing seemed right,

The future was uncertain, neither dull nor bright!

..... But the world finally slept tonight!

The mighty time seemed to slip by,

Stress, sorrow and fright hushed the humans without any lullaby!

I begged the moon not to end this night,

Begged the sun not to bring challenges for mind and might,

…. Because I wanted the world to sleep peacefully forever, not just tonight!!!
