Winter Tree
Winter Tree
A leafless vision
clothed in honesty…
A skeletal splendor
clad in candidness..
Rippling branches
speckled with white…
The winter tree
is a mirror image
of truth
I love how
shedding its
summer timidness,
abandoning its
mysterious
veil of green,
no longer dancing
to the tune of
restless winds,
it stands upright
with a raw,
unembellished,
unfettered confidence
A silent tribute to the
serenity of nature…
An ode to the
splendor of science…
A love letter to the
timelessness of time
That proud
magnificent trunk
– the barest,
most beautiful face
of the elemental…
Those giant naked limbs
– stripped of foliage,
disrobed of pretenses,
devoid of defense …
Ready to share
their most intimate
confidences
with those who have
the capacity
to look beyond
surface appearances
My lungs rejuvenate
with a new vitality
as I inhale the beauty
of those bare branches
laced across
changing skies…
making me
grateful for the
winter tree’s role
in my
aesthetic evolution.
