Windmills Of The Mind

Windmills Of The Mind

Windmills of the Mind....

I lay my head on a stone,

Cool noise of a brook flowing by,

I could see birds soaring high,

All the dread of winter of adversity,

Vanished for still within,

Dwelt the flame of summer.

Drowsy, numb I felt,

Bereft of any physical realm,

I saw myself lying and smiling,

For still the path less trodden,

Had I always taken,

Bruises and cuts, a reminder of my faith,

Strong I felt though albeit how,

Knew not.

Invincible and drugged to any pain,

I felt, as though Lord knew my broken soul,

The sky was darkening,

Maybe rains, but cared not,

So many seasons, with people I loved,

Now was just a memory,

A shadow which teased me,

Knowing I could not ask for one more,

Rewind to the days that were.

Shallow hearts shall always nurse grudges,

But deep souls know no hatred or regrets,

Pristine and clear was my thoughts,

All of them were looking at me,

Was I dreaming or drunk,

Lost was I to yesterday once more.

All were there, though an apologetic rain,

Was falling,

They were smiling and looking at me,

A strange calmness fell on me,

I felt myself euphoric and drifting,

Till sound of twig broken,

Woke me from my stupor,

But I had gone back to my ' manderlay' again,

Whether in dream or real,

I lied in deep sleep,

In the lap of Nature.

Let tears fall,

Let the ache pain,

Let me loose from the shackles of flesh,

For I have seen heaven,

And they all await me.
