Where did they learn their manners from?

Where did they learn their manners from?

The other day as I was driving to college,

Through the busy Bangalore roads in the morning,

Saw everyone on their way to work or study,

All of them were in a big hurry!

Traffic moved at a snail’s pace on many roads,

Everyone wanted to reach fast to their place of work,

But it was good to see all have learnt to be patient on the road,

Yet, a few honked as the signal turned green and the vehicle in front didn’t move!

I have to cross sixteen signals to reach my place,

At one such stop, I saw a dog waiting patiently,

Near a street food vendor where many were having their breakfast,

He just stood there and so calm was he!

Again after a few more signals, I saw a similar scene,

I just was thinking how mannerly these strays are,

You give, they eat or else they move on,

Where did they learn these manners from?

My heart went out to these hungry dogs,

Hungry yet they don’t ask or bother anyone,

They just sleep and forget about it,

To wake up hungry with the hope of getting something to eat!

Later on, I noticed many more stray dogs,

None barked or bothered anyone around,

But patiently looking around to find something to eat,

Where did they learn these excellent manners from?

Hope man realises and knows they are hungry,

Unless we feed them, they will not forcefully plead,

They will just stand there, hoping to eat something,

We give them, they eat or just go ahead to find something to eat!

In front of many houses, I see dogs resting around,

I see water bowls and food too kept for them sometimes,

So many people are kind-hearted and understand these strays,

But, not all, as I saw an old doggie, just skin and bones resting in front of a house that day!
