When We Were Young

Remember when we were young

How we used to chase after each other 

We would run to the seashore 

To make sandcastles 

When we play on a sunny day

Then sometime after 

We went our own ways

To get a better education 

And hopefully a better life

Along the way someday

We drifted apart

But even then as often 

As we can many days 

We would find ourselves 

At the seashore 

Remembering the time 

We spent all day at the seashore 

Although we lost touch with each other

That day when you left 

And never looked back

I was so hurt I wanted to hate you

But even now I couldn't 

Still, I can't understand 

What happened to me

I couldn't have you

I couldn't be angry with you

And I couldn't have you close

As you went away so far away

I wished you had turned back 

If even just one time 

to see how broken I was

How I cried that day

As you walked away 

I shed many tears

And prayed for long

And hoped that someday

Some day you would remember me

Some day you would look back

And you would come back to me

I visited the shores so often

I would see you standing there 

And we would build castles again together 

But until then I build them in my own

I dreamed that you would come one day

And I kept that dream alive 

By coming here as often as I can

To keep our playtime alive

That someday soon you would arrive 

My patience would pay off

My prayers would be answered 

These shores would hum

 to other shores

And find you and if ever 

you come to the shore

Where ever you are 

It would hum to you and

 bring you back to me

My faith is strong 

And I am hoping you will come

Now here we are today

Five long years after 

Standing here like you never left 

Building castles as we used to

So much has changed 

But not my heart for you

Now I understood why I felt

 this way for so many years

I know it was love all along 

Finally, my prayers answered 

You admit missing me

And how you longed to return 

Finally, here you are today

We embraced we cried we laughed 

And promised never to leave again

And if you have to you won't leave without me

We can build our castles

Again as if time never passed
