We Sit; Discuss Eternity

We Sit; Discuss Eternity

We sit; discuss eternity;

We two; homo sapiens sapiens;

Wise men; we talk of end times -

Ask, in principle; how it’s likely to end.

“It” as in “how it’s likely to end?”,

Meaning “Life, as we know it”?

Meaning “Death and destruction”

And questions of that ilk?

We sit, armoured in and by coffee;

Our probing minds were excited, and fascinated;

Asking ourselves, “What do we know?

Do we “know” anything?” A valid question

Of Epistemology. There’s plenty to discuss;

Plenty to cause worry; much to lament;

Not the least, is the Human Condition.

Wars, hints of wars, the Arms merchants

Growing fat on their weapons of war.

Is duplicity a weapon of statehood, or politics?

Some say it is. I term them the masters of fear.

Then again, might they not be monsters

Of my imagination? Is that mere conjecture?

We sit; discuss eternity;

We two; homo sapiens sapiens;

Wise men; incomplete in our ignorance;

Grasping for truth, and - above all - meaning;

Meaning to our existence, to why we are here;

To wondering how long our lifetime, eternity,

And asking if can Humanity become aware.

There’s that lurking question,

“How is it likely to end?”
