Truly Independent

Religious conflicts and caste discrimination

So are we really free?

We sure are free from the slavery and bondage of other Rulers,

However, We are surrounded by darkness in the form of humanity.

We are fighting every single day for Freedom.

The so-called protectors are the ones who are set out to harm us.

Women are being Harassed, verbally,

Physically, socially, emotionally.

Openly Abused on social platforms in the name of nationalism.

They are being Objectified day in and day out,

Called all sorts of names.

Unfortunately, there are also women,

Who pretends to be troubled just for the sake of fame and attention!

Which tends to the genuine one's being ignored

And even though their cries are loud, they're not heard.

At times also wrongly suppressed

And blinded by the power of money and connections.

All because of a few Indecent,

Vulgar, disrespectful & greedy men,

The entire male gender is being questioned.

We as mere citizens are doing all that we can to obtain justice,

But we are ignored.

The higher authorities use their power

For the benefits of their own selfishness and corruption,

And every time someone raises their voice against it,

They're threatened by the power of money or connections!

Are we really free and independent?

What is the use of celebrating Independence day,

When we are still faced with Injustice & cruelty

All from our own "Patriotic" people.

Nevertheless, I do Love my Home, my Country,

For all the Diversity, Cultures, traditions and Colourful festivities;

But It's sad, that all of this greatness, at times,

Is shadowed behind the overpowering darkness.
